Gamers' Rolecall
See quite a bit of gaming machismo floating about the forums (ironically, Morticia) and just figured a calling out of the real gamers might be interesting. Just add what game you became hardcore on and when you were first recognized as being hardcore.
With me, I got thouroughly obsessed with Quake 1. I was recognized by my fellow gamers when I massed 70 frags in about 12 minutes.

Quake3 arena about a month ago...
first online game I become completely obsessed with was Delta Force 2. Amassed sharpshooter medal and brutality medal (for explosives deaths) in about a week of non-stop gaming.

I haven't been into the game scene for a while, but way back in the BBS days, I helped setup a "Deathmatch Registry" on one BBS so that people could find others who wanted to play head-to-head games. In those days, one person dialed the other and went at it, usually into the wee hours of the morning when nobody wanted to use the phone. Duke3D and Doom were the order of the day, with maybe a game of Warcraft 2 thrown in.
If that wasn't exciting enough, I discovered the Null modem cable - which is basically a serial cable designed to hook two computers together. The precursor to the LAN party.
Those were the days :D
I have played Quake 3, but not for a long time. anybody need somebody for target practice? I can run really fast!

Yup. Right here. I'll take that. :D
I was weaned on Doom and Duke, but Descent kicked it up a notch for me.
I'm mostly into Q3 now, and since my free time is rare, I don't like to spend a long time learning a new game or spending long hours devising strategies.
That what I play chess for anyway.
Time to go take a look at Milenko's server again...

I used to be a huge UT fanatic, me and my friends would go to an internet cafe' about once a week and have a big lan party with the employees there..
I kinda got busy with other interests lateley and haven't had time to play any games...

first mulitplayer i played was TFC .
i figured i was a hardcore gammer when i would be a sniper or engie with over a 100 kills and less than 10 deaths.
also when TFC servers started banning from there servers since i kept kicking there @ss they always accused me of cheating.
i still play TFC and i rule as sniper, i still get banned from servers and being accused of cheating, which sometimes pisses me off becaues i dont cheat and i never cheated.
if you guys play TFC i go under the nick NeoZeeD or SniperG0D

I fell in on Quake II CTF on Vanilla servers (hate to see most of them gone now :( ) I play UT mostly (but not too often as my son requires most of my time). I have QIII, but dont play it too much, as Im more of a team player. Im aware that there are some great Mods out there for QIII, I just like UT a little better.

I played Counter-strike since Beta 5 before it was released in stores. Loved that game, used to play on a 56k modem and spank local lan users with 10-30 ping while I had 230.
I would get about 70-3, but I odnt play that much anymore since there are way to many cheaters outt here now. Can never play a game without somthing coming in and cheating

Some friends and I would play Jedi Knight. One guy refused to play besause I would use the Force to turn invisible (only visible with Force Vision/Seeing) and kick his butt.
Only other games I've played multiplayer are Carmaggedon, Diablo, and Diablo II.

I have always been a gamer. But I think my husband brought out the best in me when he got me hooked on Quake 3. I used to sit behind him and watch him play the games. But when I got my meat hooks on the keyboard and the mouse I was hooked.
I was hooked on Wolfenstein but finished it.
I think the game that got me hooked when I was playing on console was Tombraider,Resident Evil.
Now im all about the games. My only question is , He Taz I just finished Wolfenstein whats next baby?? :D

Big UT fan when I have the time to play, which seems to be never. Other than that, if it is Street Fighter I'm there!

Ahhhhh...back in the good old gun running days with no smoke/lag bombs.
I wish they hadn't "improved" that game so much. I prefer the old versions to the newer one.

Oh yeah you gots a hardcaore gamer here.
Started off with Duke Nukem 3D (strictly talking computer games... aint gonna talk about the Atari 2600). After Duke Nukem 3d I got into the Quake 1 and 2... 2 more than Quake 1. Then I got into Quake 3 and many others.

Got to where noone would play with me on Goldeneye on the N64. Then I got huge into the old Everquest, printed out all the maps, several binders with quest info. Thankfully I got my life back. I like some of the shooters, but they are just getting a little boring. Of course, I will still pull out Elite Force and play online everyonce in a while.
