Happy Monday all (Happy? Monday?),
Well thanks for the poll and the Lions covered again (cha-ching $$$).
In a couple of days I will once again put it out there to see if we can compile a winner and the spread for next week. Please feel free to participate if you wish.
Right now we are a whopping 1-0.

I knew somebody would say that. I'm not a big roller. My motto is if you can't afford to lose it don't place it.
I got killed on my others though so I kinda broke even this week.

Thinking about going for tonights game. Have a feeling about the colts +5.0, just not sure whether good or bad.

This is by no means a completely educated view, but I look for the colts to play well. Miami just doesn't impress me. Jay Fiedler? I know they have a great defense and are 8-3 but I just can't seem to buy into them being a dominating team. It seems like every aspect of the game has to be executed perfectly for them to win. There is no dominating player on offense to take over and win a game.
A general rule is that you can only keep a great player down for so long. Manning has got to break out and why not on monday night? Wouldn't the national spotlight be the best place for him to put to rest the Jim Mora comments. He is the kind of player that could win a game by himself. But with that colt defense, it doesn't matter how many points he puts up if the defense allows 40. And they can't control the ball without James so scoring drives will be short which means the defense will be on the field quite a bit.
The last few years the formula has been about the same for miami, start off hot (8-3, 9-2, 7-4 etc) then swoon at the end of the season, back into the playoffs with a wild card game, lose, then go home and talk about what went wrong. I'd be shocked if it didn't happen again this year.
I picked indy to win outright in the office pool (pick outright winners - NO SPREAD) because I think when it all adds up they've got more going for them then against them in this game, but I'm also trying to gain some ground and have been picking a lot of upsets. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the colts covered or won. But if was my money (and it's not) . . . . I wouldn't touch this game.
Well I obviously can't pick em. I called 38-28 for the 49er/Rams game in favor of the Niners. That game was very interesting. The Niners defense showed up (however they were half asleep) and I think the offense must've forgotten to wake up for the game yesterday. They didn't even show up. And who was that guy wearing the #5 jersey yesterday? That certainly wasn't the Jeff Garcia that I've been watching all year. Oh well, all I can say is, I'm sure these two teams will meet again, and hopefully the Niners will be a little more prepared for the next meeting.

didn't think the niners would win yesterday, but they are a great team. I could see them making the superbowl. . . If somebody else (New Orleans perhaps?) takes care of the rams in the playoffs. I just don't think the young niners could take the rams in a NFC championship game at St Louis. Stranger things have happened though.
First off I have to say that the Lions came through like we picked. There was a lot of talk about the Niners and all that, but unfortunately for some wallets, Garcia's QB rating was at 17 at one point in the second half.
That's the bonus of liking the Bills, I'm never fooled into thinking they'll win a game, just because they're my favorite team. You have to be very realistic when you're a Bills fan.
I'd like to see how teams did on the O/U this week too. Could be an interesting read.
Now if we can get Moss to play at 100% all the time and if we would've started Bouman at the beginning of the year instead of Culpepper, the Vikings would probably be having a very promising year. Even though we're struggling, you still have to root for your home team. :D

Detroit is home next week versus Minnesota. No spread yet but is this the game the Lions finally win?????
Who cares how many wins the Lions get as long as they keep covering the spread every week. Good work boys!

As nice as it would be to get to the superbowl by having the Saints knock off the Rams, I just don't think I'd be happy that way. The Rams looked pretty impresive yesterday, that's for sure. But I think the Niners do have the tools to beat the Rams. I think they're just lacking the experience. Garcia has never played a game of this magnitude before, and playing a dominant team like the Rams in that St. Louis dome is almost mission impossible. That was about as loud as I've ever heard a stadium get from listening on my TV. Another disappoinment was Owens. He's an awesome receiver, probably about the best there is right now, but his emotions really play a part in his playing. He just didn't seem to be in it at all yesterday. Dropping passes, and so forth. But it wasn't even just that, Garcia had alot of pressure on him, and just wasn't getting the ball on target. The run game was completely shut down which eliminated any ball control (which reminds me, why wasn't Hearst playing more?) Anyway, I don't want to sit here and make a bunch of excuses. The Rams just dominated every aspect of the game and the Niners just didn't have what it took to play with them. But my main point here in this post, is that if the Niners are going to get to the superbowl, then I want them to go through the Rams to get there. I want it done fair and square.

It was nice to see the real top teams set themselves apart from the teams that have been dominating the lower class guys. (i.e. 49ers and Bears). Now the only thing we need to see is the Steelers get a taste of reality. Unfortunately, there are many teams in the AFC to do that...
