Far from the truth
*FIRST I ASK THAT THIS DOESN'T GET OUT OF HAND*
<a href="http://www.bucktherodeo.com/olympic.html" target="_blank">http://www.bucktherodeo.com/olympic.html</a>
So here is the the deal: Our friends over at PETA say that Rodeos are bad and that animals that perform are mistreated. Read the article and you will see what I mean.
I have a few things to say. First, living in Texas, I know the people that perform in Rodeos. I am not saying that is the way Texas is. In fact farms and ranchs are usually so far away from town you can't even see the city (which for Texas is a big deal. Basically it means that's really F'in far away). So the animals are happy and have PLEANTY of room to fart around. The two or three ranches that are in town have MAYBE a horse or two, which (if you see the ranches) they have pleanty of room. Secondly the people that take care of these Rodeo animals love them as much as their children. They spend more money on making the animals happy then alot of us make in a month. So far we have plenty of space and happy animals. Next PETA says that during transport these animals are caged up. I have to give it them, they are right. I have often thought that we should give these animals the freedom to kick and rock back and forth in their cages while travling 60 miles down a crowded highway. I mean come on guys they NEED this room to rock the trailer! Blah! It's for their own good. Think about it, horses are natuarlly easly startled animals. If the trailer they are in starts doing anything funny they start bucking and kicking and it's over. The trailer flips over and the horse dies, the driver dies, and anybody around them when it happens. THE ONLY cruel thing that I know of from actually being at a rodeo is that the bulls get their nuts tied together to make them go phyco. That is the ONLY THING THAT IS CRUEL. There is no missing skin, or pools of blood and crap. I can think of much worse things PETA has done to animals AND people then all the rodeos but togerher.

I just have a couple of things to say about PETA and rodeo's. First of all, I'm not a PETA supporter. But by the same token I'm not a rodeo supporter either. I went through a "country/western" phase a few years back and ended up going to a rodeo once. I'm sure there are good rodeo's and bad rodeo's, but the one I saw seemed pretty bad. I just don't like seeing animals abused and mistreated. The one thing that pissed me off the most, was when the big macho cowboy dork, get's up on his horse, and then tries to see how fast he can hog tie a little calf. And then there was a whole assortment of other things that happened that I just didn't enjoy watching. Anyway, I probably will never go to another one again. Nothing against rodeo's, they're just not appealing to me is all. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry But I have to agree with Brother Web!

I am not too hot on Rodeos either. I don't find them that much fun and chasing after that damn greased up pig is just retarded. I can't defend rodeos to much but we have horse races, and dog races, and freakin turtles race. I know a rodeo doesn't fit in those catagories but we do enjoy entertainment and we do use animals as such. Along with small children, grown men, grown women. Riding a bucking Bronco is not a big deal, cowboys do it all the time on their ranch and doing it for money in front of a crowd is no big deal. On the other hand ball tieing and castration racing I don't find entertaining but I guess I can choose to watch something else...Hmmmm. I guess I with you guys there, I just don't go to rodeos anymore.

I just don't get it, my parents lived in Texas for a while and I could never figure out why anyone would wnat to ride a cow when you have all those pick up trucks. It's not really a sport. The thing which is crule about it is that you have a 2 or three ton animal caged up and then people tease it to get it angry and then you release it into a ring with an idiot on it's back who hole deal is to stay on for 8 seconds. May because I am english but it just sounds silly. May be because the english don't have cows that big we chose to eat them istead of ride them. I wouldn't agree with Peta %100 but I would say they were half wrong. That's just my $0.02 worth.

i think we should make a new rodeo and instead of using regular cows , we ride on cows that have mad cow desease.
-
I just feel sorry for those poor deformed fellows with the colored hair and baggy pants. They don't have people looking out for them.
-
What gets me is that PETA is worried about the rights of an animal without being concerned for the well-being of people around the globe who don't have any rights and are starving.
Just ignore them.

The only "PETA" I care about is the kind you make gyro sandwiches with. Yum, Yum.

Bracius, I'm sure you knew I would have 2 cents on this (remember the Dave T. post). Upon reflection, I find myself surprised to have no opinion on this issue. I didn't know about the Bull's nuts tho, which kind of sucks for them. Agreed to all the above about caged animals, tackling calves, etc., but whenever I see the Pro Rodeo Thang on the telly, I get sucked in by it. I saw some rodeos in person as a kid (OREGON), and my cousin got his back Jacked-up beyond all repair by a bull during a rodeo (in his cowboy phase). But at least the bull had a chance... So I guess I'm either hypocritical, or the cowboys just kick so much a$$...
I like the rodeo clowns too, those cats are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
So as a PETA supporter and an herbivore, I say hmmmm...
Veggies for Rodeo Preservation.

Hey I understand and that's cool. Everyone around the world has different cultures and customs. To me a Rodeo is just another gathering of red necks riding animals and I find it extremely boring. How ever bullfighting is beast against man (yeah, I know the guy has spears and a sword) and find it mildly interesting as opposed to cock (rosters) fighting, which I find scummy and revolting. If your start thinking about it tribes in Africa pierce their penis with bones or stick circular wood in their lips. The Chinese (still) bind the feet of women. While in south America they cut down trees disturbing thousands of species and removing the rain forest. While of the coast of Japan and China there are STILL Whaling ships. I guess the point is that PETA is going after the small battles that have more publicity and not potential. the PETA group and others like it are more concerned with the 8 o' clock news than coming out with solutions for some real problems.

Hey don't feel bad that you support PETA and have your own opinion about this. I guess as you know I don't like PETA but I do have to give you a "Thank you" for not chantting with PETA just because you haven't formed a formal opinion on this. (However that sounded I meant it in a positive way).

Lets tie a rope around Bracius's nuts and see how long we can ride him! It'll be fun!
Course if we do this we might incur the wrath of PETB. People for the ethical treatment of Braciuses.
:p
-
Hey that's a verb not a noun! When you use my name it used as: "He Bracius all night long" or "Damn, he's still Braciusing"
-
Huh? So whats the literal definition of Bracius? I thought it was a molusk or something...
