It's pretty cool, took me a minute to figure it out though!!

There's times that you can do the correct addition and subtraction and it still doesn't work right. Guess it doesn't work always.

yeah. the rules of mathmatics won't let it be wrong. :D

I thought it made 1 mistake with me as well, but I don't know if it was a math error on my part or not, every time I double checked the math, it worked. Perhaps there are some spots in the pattern where it doesn't work after all.

For those of you who want a clue as to how to work this, here's a hint:
