ahhh tax refunds.

so the misses is getting a sizable tax return this year and is going to give me a 500$ budget i can do what i want with it..
chris wants a new computer...

Matridom has nothing but praise for the epox-8rda+, but i like to know what others think of this board as well as other boards based on the nforce2 chipset.

I would also like a decent video card, to go in this system. I don't really have a preferance, i could go with either nvidia, or ati.

so comment and sugestions on other goodies i should add?

what do you need to upgrade chris?

board cpu memory and video only?


the ati 9500 pro sounds like the way to go right now for video card. great value for price and will run quake 3 when it comes out.

i just want something so i can have more then one 'decent' machine so i can make this current into a play machine, teach myself more about mandrake, win2k3, networking in general...did a job for a customer a few weeks ago that would of been smoother if i had been in practice....

i would rather make a 'decent' computer, i have a 400 watt aopen case/psu that i got for free and was looking for some decent guts to go inside of it.
edit ...the case i got at the dump/swap shop that i have written about in the past...actually saw the guy drop it off, he did'nt like what it looked like on his desk and just got a new fancy case with a window cutout and did not want this ne more...

Me too :( ...but the Mrs. & I figured we would owe, and we actually stashed back about $400 more than we needed, so we are going to split 50/50. I'm thinking new mobo and vid card. :D

I will hopefully be completing my taxes today. It is tough this year, I sold a house had capital gains, bought a house paid a lot of taxes, fees etc. Oh yeah I also paid 6500.00 in child care. But all things said, I should get a fat refund this year.

i've already got and spent my tax return. paid off a few bills, bought some clothes and booked a weekend (Apr 3rd - 6th) in Vegas for me and the GF. i did all that and i have $500 left over for spending money. who says taxes are a bad thing

I blew my whole refund last year on a new P4 rig. This year the whole thing is going into the bank for our house fund. Yes, a real house which I will own and nobody can tell me what to do with it! Good gravy, I hate our landlord.

LOL - Just remember which opposite ends the food goes in and comes out of. ;)

My refund this year will go on food, rent, and if there's something left over, heating. :(
