Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage
I'm as heterosexual as a man can be. I like being straight, I don't understand why any two men would want to have sex with each other and I'm pretty uncomfortable with the idea. You might call me homophobic.
That being said I think banning gay people from marrying is wrong, just plain wrong. It's their life, their liberty, their pursuit of happiness. Just because it makes me uncomfortable gives me no right to stop it.
Add to that I just read that Bush is proposing a Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriages. I generally support Bush and think he's done a good job. Here I must draw the line. Any attempt to add an amendment to tell people what they cannot do is so wrong on so many levels in so many ways I can't even begin to describe it. The U.S. Constitution is there to guarantee rights and freedoms and liberties, not take them away. Period.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel that way?
