Hello everyone,
How do I make an Outlook 2003 calendar for the whole year 2004, that is shared among selected users in the LAN, I need one calendar for everyone to add all their appointments, so that everyone involved would be able to see each other's appointment schedules for the whole year

I believe you are going to have to look at Exchange or an alternative third-party app to do this. They removed net folders from O2k2 upwards and anyway the sharing feature in net folders was iffy to say the least.Quote:

That said, if you are just using it to share a calendar then it is not going to be a justifiable investment.
Hopefully someone else can point you towards a third-party app that will do the trick for you.

I was also looking into a similar solution and think i may look at WorkGroup Share...www.workgroupshare.com.
Not dogging you on the Exchange thing, but its a beast if you don't know what you're doing (and sometimes when you do know what you're doing.)
Like shannff already mentioned. I've had good success with Workgroup Share - small companies not wanting to go the Exchange route.

Errr don't you need 'sharepoint services' not 'exchange' anyway ? & since I don't know what that is exactly, you'd better explain that to me as well, 'cos I think 'this' (sharepoint) comes bundled in 2003 server & exchange most definately won't !
No idea about Sharepoint as I have never used it. I do know 100 % sure that Exchange 2003 (and previous versions) allow the sharing of folders.Quote:

You may want to take a look at this Exchange Server alternative: OfficeCalendar. It will allow you to share Outlook calendar, contact, and task information. www.officecalendar.com.
There are lots of 3rd party solutions, workgroupshare looks like one of the best value ones. But I'm guessing it doesn't synchronise instantly might be a problem for some (Of course only one of your staff can have your shared excel book open at a time - so I guess the you'd be ok.)
Another solution is to put a briefcase into the shared folder and export a .pst from outlook to it - everyone updates from the .pst too. I'm sure I've seen a "how to" on the web somewhere to set it up automatically.
Since you have an excel book perhaps you could synchronise and update through it with even more flexibility
It occured to me that your excel book will act a bit like a network token - as only one person can have it open to write to, there won't be a problem with synchronising input. Perhaps you could do similar with a briefcase folder?

Sharepoint services does come with Server 2003, the bigger more robust Sharepoint Portal Services does not.
If the organization in question is fairly small, you may want to look into the latest version of Small Business Server. They have a bundle option now that cuts the price since it doesn't come with SQL, its pretty reasonable. Alrighty then,.. I am actually tackling this exact same thing at my company and I stumlbed across a really cool way of doing this. In Outlook 2000 and up, you can "Save as Web Page" the calendar by selecting the calender item from the folder list and then do File>Save as Web Page. You can choose the range of dates to save and the location.
Then I created an index.htm page with each person name and linked their names to the calendar pages. So now everyone has the page bookmarked and can view from this page calendar events. If anyone makes any changes in their outlook calendar, they just have to resave the page for it to update.
The next part of my plan is to have the changes made in Outlook automatically update on the webpage. If anyone knows how to do this, then I'm all ears.
