I'm Not Supposed to be Here Today!!!!!

Well, I really do not want to be here today. As you all know, I am a drag racer. The NHRA national event starts today in Brainerd, which is my home track. We are not racing it this year due to my father recovering from injuries (a drill bit shattered and went through his eye.) I was going to go up and watch, but we are short staffed here at work. One of the other techs had his last day on tuesday, so I was told I have to work. I know right now they are unloading the trailers and getting ready to fire the engines for the first time in 10 minutes (9:00 cst). I bet everyone can guess what I am thinking about right now. :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad:

That sucks. If it makes you feel any better, just think of Trip and the others in Florida right now...the costal guys are being evacuated...at least it's not that bad where you are... :thumbs:

Nah, not even the joy from the possibilty of trip losing all chances of using his internet connection (hopefully for a long time) can make work bearable today. :sad:

I feel for you. I have to be at home because my son is sick..if that makes you feel better..

Yeah, life definitely sucks when you gotta work on your day off.

Yeah, dad will recover. He has had a couple of surgeries on the eye, and with a contact lens the bad eye is back to 20/40 vision. It is good enough that he will be able to race again, but he can not handle the g forces for another 6 months. We will be able to take my new car out in 2 weeks, so that will help the itch. :thumbs:

I used to laugh at nascar and nhra fans until I went to an NHRA Spring Nationals in person. I've never seen a higher concentration of really hot women anywhere else before in my life. As it turned out the racing wasn't too shabby either. The feeling in your chest when two cars fly past you on their way to 325 mph is incredible.
