I run online housecall.antivirus about once a month. The past week or so I am unable to proceed. I get a yellow strip just below the address and the following message:
"The security settings do not allow web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options."
I click and I get a Information Bar Help button. I follow the instructions but the problem persists. What I am doing wrong?
Are you saying you havve no other antivirus other then running online?
Yes. I haven't had much of problems with viruses.
OS and SP level?
XP home edition, SP3. Never had this problem before. The last time I run housecall was last month. No other problems detected so far.
A month between virus checks... gulp
And XP SP3 is not due out for quite some time.

Go through it with a fine tooth comb and see what you turn up.
SP3 is pretty much a myth at this moment
When and if you geta virus you wont know till your monythly scan and that will be after it has likely emailled itself to everyone in your address book.
Also housecall doesnt find them all
like any antivirus thay have their limitations

err no, I would suggest that malware of some description has prevented you from using activex so you can neither update windows or run online scans.
I constantly update windows. All I need to do is to go Security, Trusted Zone and lower it to medium. That didn't work with housecall.Quote:

I just ran Panda. It complained that it could not run activex on my computer and proposed to click on the bar to download and install activex, which I did. Then it ran and found no virus or any other malicious product.Quote:

Click on the little blue shield and away it goes to install...do you get that far?
Does windows update work ok?
