This is my first time on this forum so I am a complete novice here!
I am getting an error messageon start up:
Procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library. PSAPI.DLL
This happened after I downloaded IE 7 beta. Thinking it might be something to do with images I uninstalled Kodak (which I no longer use) and it still happens. Any ideas please?

Search all instances of PSAPI.DLL on your system. See which one is the newest. Then in a command prompt type regsvr32 full_path_to_the_most_recent_file
If the path contains any spaces (such as c:\program files\...) then put the path between quotes.
The Process Status Helper (psapi.dll) is a standard component in W2k and XP, and GetProcessImageFileNameW is a standard function within the library. So, going to the command prompt and running sfc /scannow should replace the missing dll.

the problems occurred after I downloaded the update to Internet Explorer (version 7 Beta) so it seems it might have something to do with that?

I tried what you suggested. The PC asked for the Windows XP disc which came with the computer so I put that in. The CD has SP1. The message came up saying it was the "wrong volume". I then tried a SP2 CD which again was wrong.
Any more suggestions before this computer goes through the window?

I am getting a similar error with IE7 B2 and no error with IE6.
My error heading is "SmartBridge Alerts: BTHelpNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found"
BTHelpNotifier is a UK British Telecom broadband desktop help system and, as far as I can tell, it is written by Motive Communications Inc. of the USA.
The error message that you found on another forum was headed "smartbridge alert:motivesb.exe-entry etc".
I noticed the word "motive" which is something that that error had in common with mine.
Did your error have a link to Motive Communications Inc?
Has anyone found a way to feed this error back to the IE7 beta team. I have a link but it is not working at the moment.
British telecom has a "live" trouble shooting mail forum but the link doesn't work in IE7 - so I reverted to IE6 to discuss it with them but after two hours of stilted conversation with several lovely ladies in INDIA I gave up and reverted to IE7, and gave up the dubious advantages of BT Broadband Desktop help by uninstalling it. That got rid of the start-up error message.
I cannot see an answer to this problem - it's down to MS, BT and Motive to sort it out.

I tried to be clever and found the psapi.dll file in a folder called Motive on BT CD. I copied and pasted it into System 32 but it didn't work! I suppose the choice is either uninstall & and reinstall 6 or stick with it until Microsft get their fingers out and supply a patch for it!
I agree. When I try to use the BT Broadband help system I got 4 scripting errors that all seemed to relate to "parent.assistedLeftMotivePClient etc etc". Whatever that may mean!
I have now emailed BT - they can sort it out.

Yes I am having the same problem after installing ie7 beta, and a few updates after restarting my PC I had the exact same message error.Get ProcessImage File Namew could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL. Its eitheropt for the IE7 or the Broadband Desktop Help wich is kind of useless anyway since I spend hours trying to fix problems with the staff there, and end up fixing them myself just with the help of google search and forums like this one.

I talked to Microsoft and they said that the problem is with verizon. I talked to Verizon and they said they would look into it. As I said before under Useless's question you can disable MotiveSB. Exe In the Statup group under msconfig. Hope that takes care of it.

I'm getting the same exact error when opening Studio 10 after the upgrade to 10.5. Anyone have any luck yet with a fix?
I've been busy re-installing all my other applications... we got rid of XP on all of our network boxes, the security risk and constant problems we were having just wasn't worth it. They should have named the OS, worm haven instead of XP. I still have not solved the problem on windows 2000 Advanced Server yet. I understand that we will have problems with hardware but the problems will be nothing compared to the problems these goof balls at Microsoft have created with the XP worm hole... I hope to have it figured out soon... The problem is that Pinnacles main focus is on XP and not win2k... I do have faith that they will come up with a solution but I may have one before they do... If so I will post it here...

My error shows sprint, some show verison, just depends who you use.
To work around this error:
1. Navigate to the installation location for SmartBridge via My Computer (\Program Files\Sprint...\Smart...)
2. Find PSAPI.DLL and rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL
3. Reboot the system
The program will find the new PSAPI.DLL in the \Windows\System32 directory and function normally. :wave:
