In my 3 years of shop experiance I have found nuerous things in customers computers. Some include:
1. Key Chains
2. Kids Sun Glasses
3. Coins
4. Roach/Mouse Droppings
5. Roach Nest (LIVE ROACHES!)
6. Funny notes from previous techs that have worked on the PC
7. Credit Cards in floppy drives (Must have been shopping online) =)
Whats some strange stuff you've found in your PC's?
1. Screws all over the box
2. A motherboard manual
3. Dog and Human hair.
4. A coin
5. Various creatures (Check my website. I've placed some photos of a nice spider's web).
6. Stickers with notes and service information from previous Techs.
7. A bag with extra screws.
and the best of all times...

A very shocked mouse with extra crispy hands firmly cleanched on the leads of a diode and transistor. We was right next to the ATX connection base.
The customer had complained the system was randomly re-booting.......
A friend of mine complained his CD-ROM drive wasn't working. I ran the thing through every test I could think of, then pronounced it clinically dead. For fun, we popped the cover off and found little bits of a bookmark tassel and a healthy dose of icing. Kids....
Broken CD in the CDROM.
They somehow thought you could stack the disks up and read all of them at the same time....

I just love it when you open a machine to find that the previous tech doesn't own a screwdriver. Not a screw in sight and the hard disks are dangling from the ide cable. I once opened a PC that a customer had tried to build himself to find that he'd plugged the cable from the power supply that's supposed to go into the CPU fan into the audio output on the back of his new CD Rewriter. Ha! Killed the Rewriter go0d and proper!

Aside from the many things listed above (including lots of dead roaches), I did find in one customer's computer a baggie filled with about a cup of methamphetamine powder!

Sorry forgot Kenny just reminded me opened a tower one Saturday before Christmas Like a pool of melted then hardened M&M's about 1/2 pound maybe a pound. in the middle was a little lump cleaned it all up found a High School Class ring for 1998 (girl's) She lost it the summer before her senior year ?????

I once found a large dead lizard lodged and mangled in the PC's power supply fan (which also took out the power supply). Yuck! https://forums.windrivers.com/
Technician, pointing to remains dangling in web:
"There's your problem, the spider has died."
1. A hard drive attached to the top of the power supply with that clear plastic box tape
courtesy of our friends at bestwhy.
2. a harddrive held in with twisty ties, courtesy of a customer who was a "computer guy".
3. customer brought in a machine in which we found about 80 cents in loose change. brought the machine back a couple of weeks later and it had another 50 cents.
4. a folded up picture of a dick stuffed into the case under the cd-rom drive.
5. a brand new comcrap with an entire cd crunched up in the cd-rom drive.
6. an elvis cd in a 5.25" drive.
7. a post it note in a floppy drive, one embrassed customer.
8. a high water mark, just above the soundcard...
9. blood
10. one time this machine came in that was clean had no dust, cigarette smoke, cat hair, dog hair, or any sort of debris. now that was weird we didn't know what to do.
11. almost forgot the chip fan held onto the processor by, hot glue. this was a cyrix 200 which tends to get real hot. I looked in and saw the fan hanging by the cord, with some kind of sticky stuff on it, then i looked at the processor and it looked like it was wet. it wasn't but it did burn the piss outa my finger. felt sorry for the customer though she had paid alot of money for it from the neihborhood "computer guy".
if it wasn't fer these guys i'd go outa bussiness, or at least not have any fun things to say here.

I opened a customers CD-ROM and found 5 cd's in it. The customer complained of missing cd's and the drive making strange noises.
Actually, while it is somewhat silly to see multiple CDs crammed into a CD-ROM drive; I can think of 1 explaination for it. On my old computer, we'd installed a 5 disc 4x CD-ROM drive. *sighs fondly* It was rockin'! https://forums.windrivers.com/ I'd stick in my fav 5 CD's and was ready to run any of them at any time. Unfortunately, shortly after I moved onto my new computer and my brother got that old machine the 5 disc drive died an ugly death (the drive mechanism chewed itself apart).

The only fuuny thing I've seen is a cutomer once brought in a PC and said, "can you get this going for me.... I've tried it myself"
I open up the case to find SCSI CD-Rom (no SCSI card) 3 Video cards and one i/o card and that was it. No wonder it wouldn't work!
seems you people in the warmer climates find all kinds of neat stuff. All I find is the basic dust, ( enough to choke a whale ),the occasional eleastic band, screws and ... oh ya... the 3.5" carpenter nail !!! This isn't something we found in a computer, but a customer brought in a computer, compaq presario, one of the newer looking ones. They wanted some service done on it, no problem, but the case was the most filthy disgusting yellow I had ever seen. Obviously a smoker. I mean, I've seen some smokers cases before but this was DARK YELLOW! Then the kicker.....the damn computer was only 2 months OLD! EEACCHHHH!!
I took off the case of a tower to upgrade only to find he didnt have a hard drive mounting tray and in its place was a stack of Marlboro Light cigarette cases from the bottom of the case to the bottom of the drive, taped all together with masking tape and a strip of tape across that to the inside walls of the case to hold it up! https://forums.windrivers.com/

BUT one time a customer brought his machine in complaining that it was overheating. No problem sounds like a cpu fan and a quick easy fix! https://forums.windrivers.com/ I opened the case and discovered an AMD with a dead fan I was correct and tryed to remove the fan. IT WOULDN'T BUDGE! https://forums.windrivers.com/ After 30 mins of pryin it finally pop'd off to reveal that whoever put the system together use liquid nails to hold the fan to the cpu! https://forums.windrivers.com/ Ever heard of the mounting brackets preinsatlled by the fan manufacturer?

OK I had to mention this because its the WIERDEST thing I've ever found. It was in a printer...a wooden keyhole from a door with a skelaton key lock! And I think this printer was even from a business...it was an HP laserjet 5l, the newer ones with the paper coming in from the top...somehow the keyhole cover got dropped inside and was stopping the paper from entering the printer.

Nothing as extravegant as some of the posts, but one time I found a Hot Wheels car inside a computer. And of course, nobody had ever opened up the computer case before to work inside!

Oh of course, we've had the usual... Hot-Glued CPU Fans, Cables on backwards/connected to wierd places... but the neatest thing I EVER saw, was... we had a customer complaining that her new 45GIG WD Hard drive that she had JUST purchased from some large chain store is not working. and obviously, since it was going in to one of OUR machine's.. it must be our fault, since the drive is BRAND NEW... Right? People (customers) must be like drunk or out of their minds on natural home concocted herbal remidies and think that their PC is like a toilet or something.
