Who Was Your Best Customer Ever?

well, after posting a small piece of my mind on the subject of my worste customer(s), i simply have to find out about the positive ones out there.

my favorite customer has to be a very nice couple that i do exclusive work for. they don't get around very well so i usually go to their home and perform service work there at no greater fee then i charge at my shop. why might i be so nice as to do this? you should really taste this lady's cookin'!!! MAN huge dinners, breakfasts and lunches. plus the fact that they are very friendly, invite me to all their holiday dinners and have never complained once about anything... they just want their PC working so they can get pictures of their grandkids. for christmas i gave them an upgrade at no charge. just wondering if anyone else out there has a customer(s) they are quite fond of... :)

The perfect customer. This guy is great. Admits when he screws something up. Gives details of what he did to screw it up. He is patient when we cant get to him immediatly. And he always pays his bills. If they were all like that, work might get boring!! :D

My best customer was a guy that knew his limits and knew when he was beat and knew when to admit it. Had 2 PC's and a a laptop all hooked to a hub and would have constant little problems with the computers or little tweaks he wanted done. He always paid the 60 dollar bill and would tip me 20 to 40 bucks each time. I got all the tips at my old workplace.

The guy who gave me a $1000.00 tip on a $900.00 invoice and gives referrals regularly...... :D :D :D :D :D

the guy who waits his turn, is honest about what the hell de did, and brings a 6pack with him when he picks it up. Don't meet many of these guys.
the perfect client for me is a guy I know. I'm a call out tech and when I go to see this guy, he has already done all the work! I just hand him the new bit, he gives me the old bit, and its back to the office. I think I love him....

My best customer was this little old lady who had been doing mortgages for like 50 years, and whose boss had just plunked a computer on her desk with the words "You will use this now". Poor thing had no idea how to turn it on, but her boss gave her OUR tech support number and said we'd help.

I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with her, showing her how the mouse worked by playing Solitaire and Minesweeper, and giving her little tidbits about how computers worked and also bits of jargon for her to play with. We got her software installed and configured with relative ease. I even showed her how to use email and the Internet cuz I had to send her something and also have her download a patch. The whole time, she kept talking about her grandkids and how surprised they'd be that Grandma was using a computer!

By the end of the call, she was using that machine like she'd been doing it her whole life! She was a dream to work with! https://forums.windrivers.com/ I wish more of my newbie customers were as easy as she was!

The adorable young lady who went to a local college who brought her laptop in, and stuck around talking to me while I spent 3 hours on it, then went to lunch with her afterwards. She almost got me fired because I only charged her our minimum diagnostic fee. :D

I really wish I hadn't lost her number. :(

Hehe.. I believe, the best customer for me, would be my girlfriend! I would provide her on-site tech support for free!! :D :D :) :)

My best customer has to be an American lady living in Liverpool. She as the patience of a saint. Never complains about the service or the charge and always thanks me profusely when the service is done. I love that woman!!

My best customer would have to be a disabled lady who I used to do on-site work for as she couldn't bring her system in to the store. I used to do it in my own time and never ever charged her a penny. Then one day, after refusing to accept any payment, she just lost it and thrust a cheque for £500 into my pocket and told me to have it. I never did cash it and I actually bumped into her 2 weeks ago after nearly 2 years without seeing her, and he actually asked me why I never cashed her cheque... Talk about put me on the spot. When I said to her that I done the work for free and not for reward, but for personal satisfaction in helping someone less fortunate than myself, she loooked up at me from her wheelchair and just laughed out loud in the middle of a packed Post Office and thrust a £50 note into my hand and told me to spend it and not argue.

I know it isn't much but she also did give my girlfriend a case of Southern Comfort one Christmas as I don't drink!!!!

The city i live in is only small, and many of my clients unwind in the same places I do. We can buy each other a drink, and really get to know a few of them, but the best client I have, is a fabrications and engineering firm. Every employee they have, is attentive when you show them things, respectful to each other, and us techies, and they are more than happy to sit and have a few drinks at the pub with you, and thier accountant (an absolute champion of a man) will just call up, to see how your going.

If everyone was like that, I would look forward to going to work a lot more.

About 7 years ago I helped a friend who was struggling as a lwayer setup his computer and teach him how to use it. I told him he can pay me back someday in the future. Well as time went on, he became really good lawyer. Well as fate would have it I got involved in a situation that required a high powered lawyer. Well after he was finished with the plaintiff, she was crying and wound up having to pay me 20,000 dollars for harassing me. I figured at 200.00 and hour, he would get 1/3. He said "Il ne pois de croix" which means "Think nothing of it". He is still one of my best clients today. BTW, I took the 20,000 and used it to build 20+ new computers for a training center to get people off welfare and the plaintiff wound up using them to help herself out.

When I used to work as a graphic designer, we had one customer who was straight out of a mafia movie. Every time he would walk in, he would slip a $50 into my shirt pocket.... Can't beat that!

I have several "favorite customers" and they all share a few small caracteristics,1 Patience, they understand that I don't always know how to fix everything immediately but will do my best to find out. 2 "Willingness to learn" they all are willing to admit their shortcomings and have the desire to understand problems, not just have me fix them each time they crop up. 3 A shared appreciation for beer.......(lol) Unfortunately, these people are few and far between......

I have several favorites and they too share the following characteristics:

1. They admit and openly explain what happened.
2. They listen and actually HEED your advice.
3. They are patient and polite. They try to do their own research (manuals etc) before calling me.
4. And they pay well and promptly.

the guy who comes in..lookes at our prices and when somewhere else to buy it is my fav. cause when he brings it to us to fix it later its not a warranty repair

Favorite customer is my mom. She follows all of my recommendations and does not attempt to download shareware or tinker with the system. She asks me very few questions. When she wants to know something she reads the manual, finds a book on it or looks it up on the internet (her job centers around the internet, so she is very internet-saavy).

The only problem is that she never pays me...Oh unless you count the occasional free Sunday meal or that whole 18 years of raising me + college. Oh well, I guess I owe them a lifetime of free tech support.

I have a few favorite customers, they're honest about what has happened when the computer messed up. They dont look over my shoulder and ask 100 questions while i'm working. They joke around, and are very understanding about having to wait their turn, although i usually get to them first because they are my favs. Sometimes they tip me, and they always make sure that i get the commission off of whatever they buy.

All the computers I didn't have to see twice! :cool:

Anyway the best customer never argues, Pays in time, Pays high and do not ask you to come over in strange hours.

This is basically a virtual Customer because one like this would be a Saint

I would have to say 90% of the employees at my current job are my favorite users. They are all computer savvy. When something is wrong, they can actually give me intelligent feedback, completely unlike my previous job where I had some real idiots to deal with. For example, a lady at my old job told me one day that the mail server must be down because she hasn't received e-mail all day long. I knew it was running, so I went to her office to see what she destroyed now. It turns out she didn't have her e-mail client open.

Only thing close to that at my current employer was an employee that became angry because his 56K dial-up internet access at home isn't near as fast as our DSL connection here at work. He also gets mad that it takes 5 minutes to transfer a Gig of information from one computer to the next over a LAN connection.

My best customer is one of my dad's best friends. He pays CA$H for service. He is always asking if I need a beer or want something to eat.

He is the nicest person I have ever worked for!

This one is really easy. I'm my best customer/user, everyone else basically sucks. :rolleyes: The only exception would be my girlfriend. :)

Hard to say which is the best. One will play around onher own till it gets too deep then calls me and is willing to wiat on my back log. She pays well and promptly while refering me to others. Another calls on the most simplest of things change color and wants onsite for that.

I have a customer not even a block down the road from the shop. If she has problems with her computer I always go to her house and get her system. If it is somthing I can fix real quick, I'll fix it there at her house. If I can't I take it to the shop with me on my way to work. Now, regardless if I was to charge this lady or not, the only thing that she request is a hug before I leave. She always told me before I leave I better give her a hug. She also ask me when am I going to move in since she is always having some sort of problem. SHe said she would adopt me as her son.

I have several favorites at my job. It's those customer's that believe you when you tell them what is wrong and how to fix it and they just do it w/o complaining. Sucks to be doing Help Desk though. Free beer always makes the customer MUCH better. hehe :p :p :p

My best customer has to be the contracting company that pays me 40 hours of work each week with no questions asked. All i need to do is fax tehm this little piece of paper that says 40 hours on it and they pay me on time every week. Plus they also provide me with 100% health insurance for me and my family, they take me out to lunch several times a month and bring donuts in to my office whenever i call them and say "I think we need some donuts today". Aside from that customer, my number two would be this guy who owns a local littl PC shop in town. He pays me cash money to go to locations that have called him in need of assistance. He pays me more than the first, but the jobs are not as constant as 40 hours a week.

The best user is :

1. He doesn't change settings on the PC.
2. He is a computer literate.
3. Best of all is ... He is quiet.


Yah .. i hate children shouts when playing computer games. :(

My best customer understood that my time was important. He showed me respect without kissing my @$$. It was great! He told me what was wrong and got out of my way. That's all I need to be happy. Well, that and a paycheck ;)

All our customers that pay promptly and never grip about the charge are our favorites. Some never seem to listen to our advice. I have one who has a laptop and a tower and I keep telling him to quit downloading everything that is free. Every month I tell him I feel guilty having to charge him a hundred bucks or better just to clean up his machines cause he could avoid it if he would just listen to what we say. He says he wouldnt feel right if he didnt see us at least once a month and he does. We have a lady who insist on paying the boss $150.00 each and every month as a retainer for phone advice and help and if the boss has to go to her house she pays her at least $100.00 extra. Some months she never calls but the checks keep on coming. I guess those two would be our favorites.
