Wow...so its not a great machine for an average user, 16Mb(16Megabit,about 2MB)of RAM. That thing sure must haul some ***. Where do I sign

I used to go into FutureShop and look dumbly at the various computers and lull the sales people into a false sense of security ... then hit them with the technical questions OR ask them about something totally off the wall (like a new faster flux capacitor) to see them fumble around for an answer or try to fake it. I just wish I could see his co-workers faces when he asks for the answer! ROFL

Hey, Best Buy is selling that same system for twice as much! :D :D ROTFL

We get ads like that in our local paper all the time. I'll have to keep a look out for some of the dumber ones. The best are probably people who try to sell their Packard Bell 90 MHz for $500 or so

We have a buy/sell/trade paper here called the trading post also, we see ads all of the time selling p1 133 for $600 they put in stuff like, "bought 3 years ago for 2x this and still LOOKS like new" just cause you bought it 3 years ago for 2x that doesnt mean that you are even going to get half of that.

You think that's wild, you should see some of the stuff up for aution on Ebay. The funniest part is that there are people that shell out money for this junk!

When somebody asks me how much their computer is worth, I invite them to imagine what would happen to second hand car prices if everybody KNEW that next years model was sure to to be twice as fast and half the price of this year's model. I see this often, folks trying to sell a machine for more than a better specified new one costs, and worse still I get to see folks who BOUGHT one of these old clunkers without doing their homework first!

Even my wife knows those are crappy deals! Thanks for the laughs, guys.

The sad part about this add, is that some dumb computer no nothing will buy this system thinking that he just got one hell of a deal. It's the same on ebay. In general the human race is a bunch of idiots. We should be run by bees, because they are much smarter!!

In my younger, kinder days I used to go into stores like the RS and would occassionally hear someone asking a salesperson a question. After lisitening to the answer I would tell the customer the real answer. Which was most often very different from what the salesperson said. My conclusion is that most of those selling computers souldn't be when there are so many used car lots out there with 'Help Wanted' signs hanging.

Lol, that is too funny. I'm one of those guys that sells the junk on ebay. Instead of throwing stuff out there are people that will pay $10 for a broken 2 gig HD and $30 for a stack of busted 4X-12X CD-Roms. I don't mislead anyone but why throw it out when you can turn it into a little cash and increase your feedback rating for when you actually get something good to sell. Some people try too hard to save a buck or are too stupid. I'd say stop buying the busted stuff but I'd be killing a revenue source. lol

They'll show you a piece of crap (almost literally) and then tell you that you should have Anti-Virus loaded ($), a personal firewall ($$), and you, of course, need to buy internet access from them ($$$$$).

I had a friend ask about an E-Machine (read: cold pile of crap) to find out what speed Front Side Bus it had. She asked "What's the bus speed?" to which the knuckle-dragger replied "About 30 miles per hour" - I SWEAR!!!

They see me come into the store and send out the newest, most stupid person to attempt to help me. Good Lord helps those who help themselves, so I just go in there to raise their ire!

Just try asking them how much L2 cache is on any chip and watch the scramble begin!!!

My take on this is that he is a sales person, that's really the only explanation. Only a sales person with little or no experience could click on the system properties tab to get all that great techincal jargon!! WOW what a deal!! LOL!! :D

:cool: First of all, don't get me wrong. I'm an educated person and have no problem with people of other cultures, but these guys piss me off. The guys who run the store called Computer Expo in Houston, TX, USA are nothing but a bunch of Indian Computer Cons. These guys sell parts without serial numbers, documentation of any sort, and don't have prices on anything in the store. When you show interest in a product, you have to find the store manager and haggle over the price with him. This is America, put a frickin price tag on the damned thing! :mad: It doesn't help that the whole store is a mess. Nothing is organized, it smells like month-old curry in there, and the service department is run by a woman who speaks about 3 words of American, "Want me fix?" On top of that, they offer crappy v.90 service for $29.95/month, excluding support. I can get excellent v.90 service for $7.00/month from AT&T WorldNet WITH support. Overall, their customer service sucks, corporate image sucks, customer relations sucks, and parts availability/selection/advertising sucks. Not one item I've found advertised is actually that price. There's always a "catch" to the price; meaning you need to trade your soul and a pint of blood for the price on a part with no documentation, support, or serial number. Avoid this store at all costs!

And to think that all that junk in my basement is really worth thousands!!!! I am so grateful - now I can pay cash for the kids tuition at Princeton - just by selling my old computer stuff!!! Who'd of thunk it? ;)

Back to the question of People who shouln't be selling computers...
How about most of the 16? year old kids you run into at CompUSA or Bestbuy? Most of them say "buy this because its cool", they know litte or nothing about the products.

Another True story - I ordered a Server from CompUSA, gave the "order taker" the complete specs - and the next day I got a LAPTOP on the truck from them. Guess they got their SKU's screwed up.

I could go on, but you get the drift...

Seems that as long as there is someone who is lazy enough not to do their homework, these type of "Hot deals" will constatly be offered. Personally I'd just feel ashamed to sell something like that. I'd be a little heavier in the pocket, but I'd be ashamed. :rolleyes:
