Your "Dream PC/MAC" - What's In It?
Yeah, I know this The Tech Lounge, but I had no other place to put this post.
Anyway, what I mean by "Dream PC/MAC" is what PC/MAC you would want within the capabilities of you wallet, savings, and/or checking account.
Sure, I'd love a Cray Supercomputer, but that's not going to happen unless I sold my soul or something. :D

Here's what I'd want (actually, this is what I might get this summer :D)
- 1.2 GHz AMD Athlon w/266 FSB
  ABit KT7A-RAID Mobo
  512 MB PC133 SDRAM
  IBM 60 GB HDD 7200 RPM
  Toshiba 16x DVD/48x CDROM Drive
  Plextor 16x/10x/40x CD-RW Drive
  nVIDIA GeForce2 Pro
  SBLive! X-Gamer 5.1
  Cambridge SoundWorks DT3500 Speakers
  Viewsonic or Princeton 19" Monitor (don't remember what model #)
Can't seem to remember anything else...oh well. What's yours? :cool:

Thats what I would like to have soon, but in reality, it will probably be completely different by the time I get round to upgrading again :D

Great minds think alike, I guess, DW's isn't too far from what I'd build. Except I'd probably scratch that Radeon and go with an Elsa Geforce 3. :D :D :D

If so, tell me where I can find all this for cheap! :D

Anyway, yea, I could get dual, but I am really screwed on cash. With college coming up and all...yeah, I think everybody can understand. :(

I can't afford to buy a stick of RAM let alone buy a new system. But you asked for 'Dream' PC's. If we could afford to buy new PC's they wouldn't be a dream as we would already have them!!!! :)

15 TB RAM, 45Ghz bus
700 TB, 1000000rpm hard drive
4 GB video memory
4096-bit graphics card
900x900x900 CDRW
900x DVD
27" TFT
built in cable modem with -343 ping time (don't ask)

Windows 2000 as the main OS, but with a dual-boot of Windows 3.1 just for fun :p .

But of course, that's a "dream system"... :D

Now it may not be a "Dream PC/MAC" if your money constrains you, but I think what I should have said was what is the best can you get with the money you now have.

Darren, don't get too extravagant, but if you have spare change throw on 640K of RAM and one of those 65 millsecond hard drives...your system will really be cooking! :cool:

I would like a solid state hard drive, theay cost out the @$$ though.

My Dream PC would have to be.......what I have now + A Geforce3, 15,000 HDD, and the full tower that I have been drooling over........or yeah and a uninteruptable power supply

Pretty much exactly like yours, only with a voodoo 3 5500, and two 60gb hdds...ohh yeah and maybe a amd 1.333ghz

man you should have seen all the marks on the glass of the display case from my hands trying to grab that geforce 3... Darn glass. anyways that and a AMD 1.0-1.2 with PLENTY of ram w/266 FSB
