How many of you techs work for big national companies such as Compaq, HP, Dell, etc..or maybe stores like best buy, CompUSA. As opposed to a local shop.
Just wondering and tell us what it's like if you work at one of the big PC manufacturers. :)

I work in a small shop, I meet this guy when he started working here about 7 months ago, (he introduced me to over clocking! :D ) About one month ago he got a job at Gateway (just down the street) He gets benefits (health, dental, paid vacation etc... I get none of that :( )But its just him and one other tech working on all the computers, but they have a standard 7-10 day wait on all service. I keep bugging him to get me a job there, maybe one day dell will have local shops( I will be lining up for that deal :D )
I work for a rather large company (about $1-2 million a day) but I'd rather not say specifically who. It's one of those wonderful Television Shopping channels. It's a good job and pays well though.
I'm a programmer for a financial company. We have about 600 employees.

yes EDS gets a gm discount. (GM is their largest client. GM also gives that perk out to many of their suppliers) Ross started EDS. Sold it to GM. EDS broke away again and is its own company. Current CEO is Dick Brown. I don't know why they told you that but either way thats the company situation at the current time.
