Please say a prayer
I am not a religous person, but I am asking for the religious users of this forum to please say a prayer for my 14 month old niece, Brooke, who has just been rushed into hospital tonight after suffering a fit. The cause is not yet known, but she has been placed onto a ventilator as she cannot breath for herself at the moment. Apparently Meningitus has been ruled out but the hospital cannot inform my sister or her fiance what actually caused it to happen. She is not allergic to anything (that we know of) and was crawling around the floor when she started 'fitting'.
Obviously we are all concerned due to her age, so if I am not around much for the next few days or so you know why.
-
You got it.
I hope it all works out fine.
-
My thoughts are with you and your niece Darren.
-
-
You and your niece are in my prayers right now, Darren. We are right here for you, friend.
-
I'm not religious either but my thoughts are with you.
-
Count on my prayers for the little one, too.
BTW...I spent years as a paramedic working in a Adult/Pediatric ER's here in Motown...PM if you need any help figuring out what's going on.
For what it's worth, a huge number of first seizure activity in children is caused by fever, often from something as simple as an ear infection...and it's very good news that they were on the ball enough to look for meningitis, especially since they've been able to rule that out. You can thank God for that, already!
-
You got it, nothing hits the heart harder than the little ones....
-
I too will pray that things work out for the better.
-
You can count my and my wife's prayers in too.
-
If you have faith and do notdoubt it, it will be done. Anything you ask in prayer, believing it you will recieve.
You have been heard, i'm positive.
See you soon Darren
-
your family will be in my prayers until i hear some good news.
-
God be with you and your family at this time.
She is in our prayers and thoughts.
Please take care.
-
I will plead her case to all the gods I know. May they speed her recovery.
-
That sucks man, hopefully its nothing serious

Just had a phone call form my sister, saying that they are moving her to another hospital. They have sedated her very heavily so that she is basically paralysed and she has a lot of tubes & needles in her. She is still on the ventilator and will be for at least 3 days (at present timing).
Preliminary reports state that she has a viral infection similar to Meningitus but not meningitus. That is all that my sister has been told.
Will keep informed.
-
Don't pray much, but im sending all kinds of love and positive vibes to Brooke across the pond. Fight on, kiddo.
-
Your niece will be in my prayers and thoughts.
-
I've got your family in my prayers too Darren. Hope to hear some good news soon.

Really sorry to hear that Darren!
May God help her. I'll pray for her too.

Words are but redundant shells of the thoughts already given wings by my heart.....

That's so sad. I hope she's ok. Please keep everyone up to date on how she's doing.
-
I'm not religious either but I echo what iateyourcat say's and my thoughts are with your niece and you/your family.
-
Just had another call from my sister, with no change reported since the lat post.
-
Both PapaSmurf's and my own thoughts go out to your niece and all her family.
Keep us updated.
Ashley.
-
I'll be praying for Brooke also.
-
Something very strange has happened in the last hour or so. I have just had a call form my sister telling me that about an hour or so ago, Brooke came out of the sedation, turned over, removing all the tubes, IV's, monitors, etc, from herslef and was standing up against the cot sides right as rain!!!! Hospital still don't know what caused the problems and are totally baffled now obviously! They are going to keep her in for a few more days to make sure that she doesn't relapse, but the worrying thing now is that at 14 months old, she only weighs 14lbs (UK Pounds @ 16oz to the Lb). Granted she was 4 weeks premature and has not been putting weight on properly since birth.
We are all still a little overwhelmed by her 'recovery' that we are thinking that it is too good to be true and she may relapse at any time (hopefully she won't but obviously the risk is still there).
As soon as I know more I will post.
-
Wow! That is wonderful to hear that she is doing a lot better. I'm sure the nurses had a shock when all the monitors started to go haywire, but were very ahppy to see her standing on her own.
Very odd, but I'm glad to see she's much better.
Give her lots of hugs from all of us here.

Darren, I am not a religeous person, but my thoughts are of a speedy and full recovery..
-
Wonderful news Darren, & not at all unexpected. I'm sure we'll be keeping Brooke in our prayers for no relapses (although it can be comforting to know what something was to avoid fears of future recurrence).

She is still in hospital with a spinal IV and another in her foot. She is feeding herself now (as in not being fed through a drip). The Hospital are treating it as Meningitus but it isn't meningitus if you get what I mean. They still don't know themselves what the problem is yet.
