Well, after reading another topic here I decided it was time for everyone to come clean... What's your biggest speeding ticket or traffic fine you have ever had? And what was so durned important that you were speeding/passing/squealing tires?
Mine:
Racing (no speed, just speed contest) in 1995
96 in a 55 in 1992, late for work
The real question, is why was I in a hurry to get to work... when anymore I try to be as late as possible?
52 in a 35 just after I got my license. I bought a stealth radar detector after that and haven't had one since.
83mph in a 55mph zone. On my old CBR600 sports bike.
It was an old windy road out in the country.
35 in a 25.........SCHOOL ZONE! Big whammy $200 and some serious "please don't kill me, I am just a kid" and then I wet myself. The cop just told me to relax and take some Prozac it's just a ticket.
On the bike. 118km/h in 100 zone. Cop got me on a corner. :rolleyes:
I may have gone past a speed camera at 180km/h plus but never got a ticket for it. They're probably still after me.

Fastest speeding--115 in a 55 fine = $5.00 In Montana a few years back.
Slowest speeding--57 in a 55 (I'm not joking) fine = $65.00
Twice got speeding tickets for 22 ($295) & 15 ($175) over when I was in fact going under the limit (guess I just looked like someone who could afford it). :mad:

135 in a 55 $475 later and no license for 6 months...that was sixteen years ago and the last ticket I ever got

at least the uk cops allow you 10% plus 2mph... so, 55mph would be 55+7.5 =62.5mph before you get a ticket and 3 points. 12 points = disqualified from driving for 1 year or more.

About 8 years ago I got my first (and last) DUI. So instead of going to jail, or AA classes, or whatever, I got a lawyer. The lawyer got it reduced to a "wet reckless". I paid the lawyer $2500.00, and a $1200.00 fine, and had my license suspended for 4 months. So I pretty much learned my lesson, but most of all, I'm just glad I didn't hurt anybody while I was, "learning my lesson." So anyway, that was my highest fine.
My biggest speeding ticket was when I was coming back home from L.A. with a friend. I was driving around 110 mph on highway 156, in my 1.6L Geo Storm 2dr Coupe (disposable car,... now I've got me a cool Dodge Dakota truck.) Anyway, the cop pulled me over and only wrote me down for doing 97mph. I had to pay a couple hundred dollar fine and that was it. Other than that, I just have an accumulation of minor speeding tickets and misdemeanors (driving through stop signs, etc.)
BTW, One more thing (just in case you read my reply above), I just want to make sure everyone know's,... CrueHead is a responsible and safe driver nowadays. The above mentioned items happened many years ago and I've grown much since then.

That was in Des Moines, thankfully, not in a school zone.
No speeding tickets yet. Only one ticket issued and that was for having the stereo on too loud = £40.
I had an officer follow me to work one day, over a cup of coffee in the shop, he showed me his radar gun displaying 75MPH which he said he locked on me in a 20MPH school zone. After some discussion, I showed him that the tree outside my shop window clocked 68MPH from his car parked inside my shop. Turned off his A/C unit in car, tree was standing still. Turned back on, clocked tree at 70MPH. I didn't get the ticket, even though I was really doing 25MPH and admitted to that. I'm just lucky that I had been reading up on the subject, and that the officer in question was in fact a friend (yes he was going to ticket me anyway) who was willing to listen. He later told me that most officers write tickets based on expert opinion, not just radar reading. In reality, that is why he followed me and didn't pull a full code stop. He knew I was not doing what the radar showed, and wanted to talk first. Not all cops are $$$$heads, some are real nice people. Need more of that kind, eheh.
70 MPH in a 35 zone, school zone no less. And to top it off, I lied my way out of a DUI. I was heading back to the frat house after a kegger, to do more drinking.

The last time I got pulled over was for doing 60 in a 45 zone. It was during the Gulf War, and my license was expired, however it was valid as long as I showed my military ID. The cop let me off with a written warning.
Each time I've been pulled over, I can honestly say.....I deserved it. :eek:
I've had more than one Massachusetts State Police troopers show me their human side. The worst I ever got from them was reading me the riot act. I can say, each time, I deserved it, but each time, those guys let me go with no ticket. They have my utmost respect.Quote:

I had been only pulled over one other time after my speeding ticket. That was for rolling thorough a stop in Altoona. He chewed me out and let me off with a warning because I didn't live in Altoona at the time.
And to think, I moved there.
I've never gotten a speeding ticket, though I was pulled over once and given a 'warning' by the SDPD (I think they had just gone beyond their jurisdiction and couldn't ticket me), and I once had a CHiPie pull along side while I was doing 85 and chirp his siren (I think he didn't pull me over because he was going off duty and didn't need the quota)
I have gotten a ticket, however, for making a right turn at 8:45 when the sign said "No Right Turn 6-9" I used to be a very safe driver, never sped, obeyed all the traffic laws, until I got that ticket. Then I said, "Screw this! Everyone else breaks the law, and I get a ticket for making a mistake!" The ticket was about $150; it would have been cheeper if I'd kept going straight but drove at 90 instead of 45. :mad:
142 in a souped up neon, in a 45 mph on the exit ramp that leads TO the highway.... good thing the cop wasnt about mile down the road...i still had pedal left. was after i got off work at 2am 89 miles from home i was rushing to sleep

loosing license and paying awful insurance rates for the following 5 years somewhere around $1200
Having a cop chase you down and pull you out of the car through an open window because you did not know there was one behind you, priceless.
Although I did win the race...
Since then came to the conclusion it is cheaper to overclock a computer then overclock my car.
No speeding tickets for me yet, driving for 8 years now. But I did get one parking ticket - only $5.

When I was 17, I got a 93mph in a 55mph after I dropped my then-girlfriend off at her house on July 4th. I was two hours late for curfew and in my young, dumb, and full of $&# days, I must have somehow rationalized that if I drive over 90 mph it would work like a time warp. :eek: :D :D
Last year on my way home from Mardi Gras in New Orleans I got two tickets within 15 minutes in different parishes. The first was in the town of Newellton. City cop clocked me going 77 in a 55 2 miles outside the city limits on his way home, followed me through the town and pulled me over a mile on the other side of town. I argued over his being out of his jurisdiction, but the backwoods law can't be fought. This was the first ticket I'd ever got. Never been pulled over for speeding in 5 years of driving in Missouri. So I was pissed and thought what are the chances and continued driving even faster only to get pulled over by a Madison Parish deputy doing 79 in a 55. Each ticket was about $150, which I paid, but my license in MO ended up being suspended because the idiots in Newellton wouldn't send an acceptable receipt. Got arrested for driving while suspended, even though I showed the deputy the receipts for having paid the tickets. Bail was set at $500. He was a guy I graduated with and I think he was bitter cause his girlfriend cheated on him with me and dumped him for me back in high school and now they're engaged. Once I went to court for the DWS it was thrown out, and everything was cleared up.
No real tickets for moving violations ever. Been driving for 17 years, too! Did get one of those cheesy redlight tickets where the cameras are set up to bust people, though...$50.

128 in a 55 while hauling a 50 ton trac hoe behind me :) cop said he heard the jake brake kick in when i topped the hill didn't give me a ticket cause he said no judge would believe that truck could do that all i said was thank god he wasn't at the top of the hill when the radar detector went off :)

DWI and running a red light 3 years ago, about $1200 dollars in fines and $150 to $200 dollars more a month in jacked up insurance rates for 2 more years, I won't make that mistake again.
While I didn't get a ticket, I had one incident that forever changed the way I drive. North of Las Vegas, I passed a Nevada patrol car while I was just breaking 120mph on my bike. He flashed his headlights at me but didn't run a code stop, and I was being a dumba$$, so I just throttled up to 130mph. Five miles later I noticed these shiny spots in the black (1AM, no moon) and braked down to 50, then saw that I was in the middle of a herd of Black Angus, the cattle not the restaurant. I've never been quite the same since. Can you say Open Range, no fences, cattle on road? Shiny spots were noses and eyes firmly attached to large bodies, on the road. Never had seen them on that road before. Never broke 90mph very often after that, and never a night. I guess if you live through your own stupidty, the least you should do is learn from it, eh?
It got a 98 in a 45 zone, no seatbelt, no lights on (11pm), out past curfew(17 at the time), and decided to be an @$$hole to the cop - drove an additional 4 miles after he started his lights so I could get to a well lit area and "feel safe" Funny thing is they mixed my record up with someone else's and I got to go to traffic school for $50 and have it stricken from my record. I feel sorry for the other person that got my ticket though.

at one point I had 36 points on my license and to this day have lost my license 8 times...

$279.00 for doing 53 in a 35 zone. I was really doing 95 in a 45 zone. Cop gave me the ticket and said he was doing me a favor. He was - coulda tore my DL up on the spot.
