Downfall of the Tech Lounge.

Hello All!

I just wanted to share with everyone some of my views on the Tech Lounge. I truly think this forum has lost all substance. I can remember back in the good old days when topics had a little thicker point to them. Enough with the freaking threads announcing how many post you have. If you've got 5,000 posts then maybe it's necessary. As I look at the list of current threads, it makes me either close my browser or check out another site. It sucks because I really like coming to this forum but I really don't see the point anymore. It's the same old topic's...

Happy Birthday, Girlfriend Problems, 1000 Post..Yeah!, etc etc

I'm sure I'll get a little flamed from this post but frankly I don't give a hoot. All I'm trying to point out is that we should come up with new topics. This is not intended to pi$$ anyone off. And if anyone was wondering why I haven't been around for the last month then this is why.

Opiate, you're right, of course. That's why I limit the threads that I start to only meaningful and tasteful topics. The older posts were certainly better. A shining example of an interesting and informative thread can be found <a href="http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=36&t=000330&p=" target="_blank">here</a>. I'm sure everyone would agree that it's far better than the drivel that we see today... :D

Well, I ca see your point a little (I know I'm guilty of what you said), but this sis supposed to be the forum where its not tech related. GF probelms? Someone turning here for advise is a sign of trust.
Stupid polls? I think I am the biggest offender of that, but it adds a twist.

Yay! 1000 posts!!! I see your point, but everyone needs to brag sometimes, it can help you feel a little better about yourself.

Happy Birthday! I don't mind it, ad I probably would have enjoyed seeing a 'Happy Birthday Draggar' thread. It shows the closeness of this community.

Besides, (IMHOH) if the mods feel a topic is truly inappropreate (sp?) I'm willing to bet they'd close it, and we'd see it float down the list of topics, to be lost in the pages beyond 1.

This is a formum where techs don't have to be techs. I see some threads, and if the subject doesn't get me, I just won't read it. (and besides, it a can be a much needed reality break from work,or the NVidia vs. Voodoo, CRT vs. LCD debates. We need that.

Spaceman, I remember that picture. Hilarious. Yeah, I think we had a whole lot more crap to talk about back in the day (last year). But, this is the new generation. Who would have thought that Windrivers would be a pay site? That DW and Cobra wouldn't be posting up a storm? This is a new era Opiate, you've got to change with the times. Do yourself a favor, and start a topis with a header of "Why I wear athletic socks with my dress boots."

I haven't been a member here for that terribly long, but even in the past month or so I can see what you mean.

The forum don't seem to move as fast recently either. Can't pass a whole lot of time on the tech lounge now. I rarely post on the weekends because I'm busy with my honey and other stuff, and windrivers forums are mostly a way to pass some time at work. I'm amazed that after a weekend of not even visiting the forums, I come back on monday to the same threads in pretty much the same places (number of replys)

Though I couldn't believe there was a topic on "what should I eat for dinner" I still posted but really didn't have to.
My problem is not what is allowed to be posted it's what's not allowed to be posted.

I know this man! The problem is, it's getting to the point where I don't even want to read any threads.

Everything goes here.
If I would want to post a threahd on JFK conspiracy or aliens on the white house etc.
This is the Tech lounge - Everything goes.

- However -

I don't want to see any post of "tech lounge" type in other parts of the BB.

But in the "good ole days" Scott owned
the site! We didn't have a Tech Lounge,
And there was Darren, Shawn, George, "Q" &
Myself as Mods, Far fewer problems, and
About the worst Was a Flammer poped in
from time to time and was removed post haste!
Then Scott sold the site, and the Tech Lounge
was created, and problems soon arived.
But you can't live in the past!
So how about the "good new days"???
