I can't find the CMOS battery on this motherboard! Could it possbily be integrated? I also can't figure out what type of board it is. It's an old pentium clone, and I see no where for an external battery. Any help appreciated.

This sounds interesting. Any way you can get some more info or a Picture?
Look for a black thing with "Dallas" on it.
Look for a black block about 1 1/2" X 3/4". It will say Dallas on it. OR look for another black box about the size of a AA battery stuck or vecroed along the side of the case.
Don't forget the little blue or green Barrel type soldered batteries also.

You look to see if it's soldered onto the mainboard or if it's in a slot. If it's in a slot - kinda like a BIOS chip then it can be easily replaced.
Most of the times, it's not soldered.
If it is a barrel type and it's soldered, try to locate a 4-pin external battery connector, where you can connect an external battery.
some CMOS batteries are integrated with the real time clock...
in some cases they are soldred to the board ( and they can come in different shape and sizes)
The best Idea is to try and find your mother board manufecturer and model - we might be able to help by locating a manual etc...

Thanks for the reply. Been through the sites but cannot find the Manual to the board. The MOBO has P55TP4 stamped on it. As I said I've been to Asus Site and quite a few others but they don't have this one.

I'm guessing it's integrated with the RTC. It's called a Houston Tech HT12888A Real Time. So how do I go about replacing this? It doesn't feel like it wants to come out. I'm surprised I got any replies with the lack of knowledge I provided, thanks everyone. I still can't find the external battery connector either. Anyone wanna guess about the location or maybe give an alternate form of what I'm looking for?

you couldn't find it on ASus site ? well I did :)
and I was right. Take a look at the bootom left corner - see that Black part (in the picture) this is your real Time clock and it's the integrated type.
you need to get a new RTC.
better yet - go to ebay and find another board... you can easily get an AT board based on Intel TX chipset - like the tyan S1571S ( Titan Turbo AT-2) or many others.
you'll get better performance for the same price..

Thanks for the info, been to those sites but they are not the same board as the one that I was working on. Looking at the picture of the board they are differant, but I guess that the RTC on both MOBO's do the same thing and if I get the system back (Which now works)except that the BIOS has a password in it stopping me from getting into it.

If you have the board working you can remove the CMOS password with KillCMOS , download it from the Windrivers utility section.It will reset all your CMOS settings to the default settings and remove the password . Your antivirus program will report it as a virus , but its not.

Welcome to WinDrivers Ivano. You are right about the CMOS battery, it's inside the Real Time Clock as shown here:

If you note the brand and type number shown on the top of it, there might be an equivalent still obtainable, but it's years since I've tried to find one.
If it's not in a socket, it would have to be unsoldered from the board. I once found a type you could dismantle and solder in a new lithium cell, but it wasn't easy to do, and most can't be opened.

It is a Dallas DS12887A you'll be looking for to replace the Odin. I guess you'll be able to find a European source, maybe even somewhere like:
