Yep, it works, and it's probably better, although to be really sure how much I guess you'd have to do comparisons using each on a drive restored from an image. I certainly haven't tried that.
standard procedure here at work is to swap the 98 defrag for the winme defrag on all 98 machines before they enter the work (station) force.
I haven't done any stop watch benchmarks, but it certainly appears faster.
Probably the only good thing that ever came out of ME...;)
I put it on every 98 and 95 I come across. I finit has reduced the time on some machines as much as 20-25 minutes. Too bad there is nothing like this for W2k.
I don't suppose any of you have a downloadable version I could attain!?! Thing is I haven't seen a ME PC in a long time, and don't know when I will see another. I would like to test this out!

I just downloaded it from confus-ed's link and it works great! Definitely faster.
I think I will use it on all of my Win9X machines.

That's nothing....... I downloaded mine from a PC running ME to a floppy, 45 seconds plus.
I've done this since WINME came out, I actually got bitched out once for mentioning that here, long ago.

I've used it for some time now and it's certainly a vast improvement over the old version. It's faster and appears to do the job sufficiently enough to send the old version to the recycle bin! Time is money!
Just wondering if this violates the M$ licencing?
