ok im looking into getting a vga extention cable.
Now if you havnt seen my post in the lounge about the car computer will this is for that.
Im thinking about moving the PC from the glove box to the trunk.
Now I think ill need a 12 footer - 15 footer cable.
I know the longer you go the more lickly the lost of signal. I there a good cable out there that is shielded that would work well with what im doing?
How long do you think I can go with out haveing a distorted picture....

We use a 25' VGA extension here to run from a computer to a projector. It's thicker than a battery cable and has no signal loss.

I will also need a 15 footer USB extention and a 15 footer serial

Yup, he does custom. If he can't make it, it don't exist.....

Try to avoid extenssion cables as much as you can.
These cables have many disadvantages:
Interference (Video Signal is very sensitive).
Overload on Video Adapter
Image quality go down the Drain (Even with those special cables).
and many other reasons (which I am too tired to think of... ;) )

But to ahve the PC in the trunk of my car and the tft lcd monitor in the dash Im ganna need a long vga cable...but I need one that will not loose signal or at least not as much :(
Seems to me in this current application he is going to need as much as 15 feet, regardless of the recommendation otherwise.Quote:

These cables do exist, and can produce fine results. I think your best bet is in the trunk. But position the PC as far forward of the rear wheels as you can. If you go behind the wheels, the movement is greater when going over bumps…If you ever rode in a school bus you would remember why it was so much fun to sit all of the way in the back! Well besides the lack of supervision…

in my car, in the middle of the back seat it folds down for a arm rest will I can open that to get into the trunk. I was thinking about setting the pc in there so when I pull down the arm rest the pc is there with all its lights and cdrom etc... that might be a better bet...
I wonder how a computer would behave when left in the car during a summer day when the temperature reaches 150F...:flame:
don't forget a pair of battery booster cables... would be needed after few hours:D :D :D
