What's your sign?

I'm a Libra. I don't place much faith in astrology but it's kind of fun to play around with it a bit. Sometimes it's uncanny how accurate the personality characterizations can be. I don't pay any attention to predictions though.

I was talking to a friend last night, she's a bit of an odd mix in that she has a psych degree and has respect for the scientific method but gives astrological considerations a lot of weight when dealing with people. I'm having a problem with a work relationship, I asked her for some advice because she has a psych degree. She told me to find out what the other person's sign was (also a female), then read up on that sign and how best to handle conflict with women of that sign.

Anyone ever try this? What do you think of astrology in general?

Never tried looking at that when having issues with another person....but couldn't hurt!! Let me know how it goes...could come in handy with the ex! :D

Actually, I get quite confus-ed on this issue (you see, it is contagious).
When I was young I thought Linda Goodman's "Sun Signs" seemed unbielievably accurate, but never believed in Horoscope predictions.
Imagine putting everyone on earth into ONLY 12 categories.
Of course you will be accurate for some.
Some where along the lines of Numerology, etc.
Interesting, sometimes really interesting, but unreliable if you count on it to make decisons.

Why, then, does your birth time matter? Shouldn’t it really be the time of conception that would affect who the baby is to become? Or is it that the muscular lining of the mother protects the fetus from all external forces? In that case, shouldn’t a ham enclosure do the trick?

For several decades, researchers tracked more than 2,000 people most of them born within minutes of each other. According to astrology, the subjects should have had very similar traits.

The babies were originally recruited as part of a medical study begun in London in 1958 into how the circumstances of birth can affect future health. More than 2,000 babies born in early March that year were registered, and their development was monitored at regular intervals.

Researchers looked at more than 100 different characteristics, including occupation, anxiety levels, marital status, aggressiveness, sociability, IQ levels and ability in art, sports, mathematics and reading all of which astrologers claim can be gauged from birth charts.

The scientists failed to find any evidence of similarities between the "time twins," however. They reported in the current issue of the Journal of Consciousness Studies: "The test conditions could hardly have been more conducive to success ... but the results are uniformly negative."

Analysis of the research was carried out by Geoffrey Dean, a scientist and former astrologer based in Perth, Australia, and Ivan Kelly, a psychologist at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Mr. Dean said the results undermined the claims of astrologers, who typically work with birth data far less precise than that used in the study. "They sometimes argue that times of birth just a minute apart can make all the difference by altering what they call the 'house cusps,' " he said. "But in their work, they are happy to take whatever time they can get from a client."

Real true, but it can be harmful, especially when people depend on them to make life decisons. my sign is Virgo, my husband is a Cancer and my son is a Pisces.

Leo ... i don't follow horoscopes to close but as for sign characteristics they are usually right on the money... all the traits for just about everyone i know personally fit them to a tee! Me and my girl are both leos and you should see some of the fights we get into cuz neither of us wanna back down, we are both stubborn as hell :)

Sorry it's a load of bunk!!! A neighbor of mine has a birthday the day after mine ( we are both Libras ) and we are nothing alike and are not into the same things the same things don't happen to each of us, etc.... Also a roommate of mine in college has a twin sister and they are complete oposites!! Sorry, load of bunk, here folkes.....

I always thought it was a load but I noticed over time that most of my friends are pisces or libras... I'm a libra. They don't really have the same personalities though...
