So how you gettin along now that your awhile after your eye surgery? I go under the laser on the 10th of next month, I start all my drops and stuff Wednesday of next week.
I went Tuesday for the pre-op testing and stuff...the dialation they did on my eyes didn't go away for almost 36 hours!!!!! :mad: :mad:
They did tell me that day was MUCH worse than the surgery will be...man I hope so!!! :sad:
Any last minute things I need to know? :D

Ask for the valium, dress very casually, RELAX! Expect your vision to be a bit wacky for the next six weeks (blurry in the morning, then by mid-morning okay), USE the artificial tears alot(that helps with the healing process), Also, if you have a follow-up appointment the next morning have someone else drive.Quote:

So are you still happy with it? Is your vision starting to clear and not be so wacky yet? How frustrating has the whole thing been? ALso, how scratchy and itchy...I'm afraid that will drive me insane! LOL!
My farsight was screwed up the next day and it didn't help that it was raining. If I wasn't familar with the roads I would have ended up in D.C. somewhere (halfkidding)Quote:

I've had glasses all my life and am curious about that Lasik surgery, although I can't STAND having anything near my eyes. I can't even take eye drops without having a fit.
I hear you are awake through the surgery? I think I would be more apt to do it if they knocked me out cold first. Relaxing drugs or not, having someone come at my eye with a laser or knife would flip me out.
You need to be able to focus where they tell you to. The cutting is done so fast you don't even notice it. Much. It's been a year and 5 months and is the best thing I have done for myself.Quote:

Drew-if you can't even stand drops it'd never work...you have to put in drops alot after surgery, from what I've read in stuff I got from my surgeon 3 different types of drops, each 4-6 times a day!
The two types of drops you have to use for 5 days to divert an infection, the third is artificial tears that you have to use for the rest of your life. It's no biggie and it's worth it.Quote:

I used the tears for a couple of months, now I only use them maybe once every couple of months.
I remember those too. I do not think I put anything in my eyes within a few days of the procedure. Maybe my memory is off. It's been nearly five years now.Quote:

I have a horrible astigmatism, i hate my contacts, i hate my bifocals. I have a brother in law whose vision is worse than mine, and has to were bifocals w/prism, and has been seriously been thinking about getting it done, but was told he was too young (well, he is young).
Wow, I've never heard that around here....seems a lil odd to me... I actually heard kinda the opposite from my Dr...if in 50s they aren't as apt to do it due to cataracs (sp?) and insurance covers that surgery.....and w/ that surgery they implant like a permanent contact, so the outcome is the same...
Man, they weren't kidding about dry eyes after this though! :eek:

I do know that the procedure I had done is only about a year old and tailored to the individual's eye and its imperfections rather than all eyes of that same prescription being treated the same. Not sure what Amyb had!
