Well I'm glad you asked me that question, but can I first say that under this government.... BLAH
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
No. There have been few elections ever held in this country as important as the one coming up. If one sides wins we will become a militaristic state perpetually at war with few civil liberties.
Kinda important, I think.
Then why are you trying to get him elected? Just kidding. It is propoganda and outbursts like that is what the problem is. I vote Yes. :thumbs:Quote:

Over here we'll talk about it the day before, the day after and then go back to boobies.
Go here instead and leave us to post pad and stuff
That's about what I do when your Royal Family decides they've done something important, like wave at the public, or break a nail, or something....Quote:

Yes, I am glad.
I could care less about politics right now. I just can't stand having this nimrod in the whitehouse trying to play superman everyday. He is a miserable failure. It also just baffles my mind that anyone on this planet can support such a douch-bag. Those of you who don't take this seriously, kicking back making jokes, trying to look like the independant thinker, the guy who doesn't need to worry about all this, the guy who thinks people make too big a deal of this, etc. need to wake up. I'm not saying you should run around in a panic everyday. Of course we all need to live our lives the way we do. But we should also not ignore whats happening.
Anyway, if Bush wins this election, then the world is going to completely crumble and some of you will look back and WISH you could go back to the days when all you had to do was listen to people gripe about Bush. I guarantee it. This is only the beginning.
One more thing,... I will stop griping about Bush after he is fired in November. Until then,.. I feel very strongly about certain things, and if the subject comes up, I'll be there to voice. :)
2 cents
If you don't like the threads don't read them. How hard is that?
Personally I'm sick of the post pad threads and think they are the stupidest thing to clog this lounge and a complete waste of time, but I don't give a **** enough to go making a poll about it. Some people enjoy that kind of stuff so let them be. I just don't read them or participate.
No problem.
Btw,.. I forgot to answer the original question of this topic in my last rant. LOL.
Anyway,.. yes I AM sick of alking about politics. And after January 2005 when Bush goes away, I will be very happy to finally not have to talk about it anymore. :)
On the other hand,.. if Bush DOES happen to get re-elected,.. then you ain't seen nothin yet. I will dedicate as much time as it possibly takes to do whatever I can to get that sucker removed. One way or another,.. he will not be in that office for another 4 years. I will move to Zimbabwe before I live through another 4 years of that jacka$$.
Talk about not following your own advice! ;)Quote:

My Dad WAS heavily involved in politics in Virginia in the 70's, 80's & early 90's (Republican Party, but he was/is a moderate more in line with John Warner than the err Biblepublicans of Pat & Jerry). Basically it was his job to convert folks from the old line VA Byrd Machine Dixicrat er...Democrat to the virtues of the GOP. This chore got a easier after Mills Godwin and then got downright a snap after Grits & Fritz. Imagine his horror when the fruit of his loins didn't quite grok his message. Heaven forbid that I would actually listen to the issues and not vote a straight party line - I actually came to this conclusion in '75 while in HS, so he couldn't blame it on them no good pansy, pinko, college communist!!!! Holy Moly I voted for John Anderson in '80! I did mollify him in '84 by voting for Ronnie, but then I went Libertarian on him and just ruined his day ;). Imagine his horror when we would sit down and talk and he found out that I was an independent thinking moderate whose views were very close to his. He still couldn't get over the Independent/Libertarian thing. It didn't matter what the issue was, or the party affiliation, you only voted GOP or Dem & you didn't split your vote! He finally accepted my way of thinking in '91 & eventually he now doesn't vote strict party line. We still talk long distance politics, but my Dad isn't active anymore and now he is of a much larger Libertarian bent. The funny thing is my wife & my Mom are just to the right of G. Gordon Liddy. My wife, who is a very, very smart lady, and I discuss issues and most of the time she falls straight on the GOP Platform (there are a couple of social issues she disagrees with though). Ironically her father was also active in VA politics and he was a poobah of the local Democratic Party in the 60's & 70's. My wife was the local leader of the Young Democrats in the 70's. She started leaning to the right in the mid-80's. One thing though...if you really want to get my wife pi$$ed all you have to do is mention Hillary Clinton and she will go ballistic. For some reason that she has never been able to 'splain she absolutely loathes HRC. Even funnier is that my 93 yr old Grandmother (Dad's Mom) is a Democrat. She has been that way since before FDR, but when you talk to her (she is still very lucid) her political leanings are a lot more Republican. She has spilt her ticket twice and that was when my Dad was running for local office in the 80's. Since then she votes straight party line - somethings are just thicker than family. :p
What the two who now say 'banned' next to them ? Jaxson & techs ?Quote:

This is very valid  ... sadly as probably evidenced above, certain folks couldn't manage to distinguish that WotPP usuually is just playing on certain threads & manages the odd sneaky one here & there to hopefully lighten the mood a little (as of course I'm a major 'player'), but hijacking other unrelated threads to make political points (or in all fairness WotPP type stuff) isn't helping either those who would like to discuss rationally their points or other folks wishing to discuss other things ..Quote:

Ban political topic altogether? Nah: then you'd never visit the lounge.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
I got a kick out of Liddy's comments on the BATF. What caused your wife to change her views?Quote:

I think, like many here, I'm just sick of every thread turning into why George should/shouldn't get re-elected no matter what it actually starts off about ..

Yeah I know its yet another forum, but we've got loads, like techtales etc that rarely get used, so I guess I'm back to re-jigging all the forum titles yet again ..

Besides, engaging in argument just gets you madder and madder the more the other side refuses to concede - which is what a good arguer does....
Orange Dude please take down your 'special picture' it is offensive !
(sure I know its been posted here loads of times & it always gets edited too)
On the subject or arguing with 'brick walls' remember you aren't just arguing with the individuals, you are creating a line of arguement which may sway other folks as & when they read it later, so if you believe what somebody is saying is 'wrong' & can come up with a counter arguement, then do ..
You mightn't be able to persuade the 'knuckleheads' & less transient souls among us, but you might someone who perhaps doesn't have quite as much to say as for instance I can .. ;)
