Gee, don't you think it's funny that all of these anti-Bush books and this movie is out to try to make Bush look bad right before the elections? Shouldn't these things be added to the amount of money that the demos are spending on their politcal campaign?

I gotta tell ya, I really want to see this...just to see what it's about, and to be able to look into ways to dispute his hollow allegations. I won't spend any money for it. If I do go, I will buy a ticket for a different movie and sneek in to his. I don't want him getting a red cent from my pocket...

Don Henley sucks the sweat off of dead men's balls

Bowling for Columbine was a great movie... I loved it... I really liked the start where he goes into a bank and they give him a gun for opening an account..... ONLY IN THE USA!!!

OK, I know poking fun at merkins is fun and all, but you do know that entire deal was staged by Moore, right? As in Moore creatively directed (I like to call this lied) that situation into existence.

A: A full background check was run on Moore, ie drivers license check, felony check, etc.

B: Normally people opening accounts are given a coupon/ticket that they can use at a local gun shop. To break that down real simple for you, they aren't normally given the gun inside the bank. To break that down even more for you, Moore specifically requested that he be given the gun in the bank.

Of course, you just found this tidbit so overwhelmingly amusing that you didnt bother to check veracity, huh? This situation isn't the only time Moore creatively directs in Bowling.

I loved how he showed that Canada, a country with just as many guns had almost no gun crime then somehow drew the conclusion that the USA needed gun control.

That one blew me away. Also, he chopped up many a speech and statement from heston and made one thing sound like something else.

He drew conclusions that all white people were to blame for all the gun crime in america because we don't like people with other color skin, and blah, blah, blah. I for one am sick of people telling me that because I'm a white male that I hate all these other groups of people. It's bull**** and it had nothing to do with the gun control debate.

Why not a gun? Certainly more useful than a toaster or blender. The person opening the account has just made a significant deposit and passed a background check, why not? Unless of course guns are evil. How many people are shot every year by a new gun owner that has just recieved his firearm after opening a bank account? I bet the number is either zero or pretty damned close.

Because in that part of the country, everyone has a damned gun and want more. Why, I don't know but that's what they want so the bank gets them to come in that way.

You may as well ask why a toaster or fridge back in the 70's? Why the hell did banks give them away? Because they wanted to get housewives to start their own accounts instead of sticking $$$ into the cookie jar and the like.

That was my point. How are guns the issue when we have working models where they are not a crime issue. It's something more within our society here. For instance, we have a lot of criminal on criminal deaths due to drugs and other items being illegal, thus a comodity to fight over. The war on drugs.

We have politicians who will not fund the right kind of gun controll (putting gun toting criminals in jaim for a LOOONG time). Recently an initiave to actually fund prosecution of gun criminals has begun in several cities. It's slowly working.

We have a lot of loonies here too, dunno why, maybe something in the water...

It's what moore was saying .... The media scares the $hit out of you in the USA... IT's true I've seen the difference... In Canada the media is more positive.

Moore is not the media. He is a self promoting huckster with a specific agenda. His documentary Roger & Me was very, very good, but his work since has gone severely downhill IMHO. The trouble is enuff folks buy into his "message" and think it's enlightning. It is not. To me he is nothing more than the National Inquirer with a camera.

I look at the news in buffalo or Detriot.... The coverage of crime take front and center... In canada Govenment and Local going ons comes on first .... Crime is normaly a small news bit... Not front and center... Unless it's major

You guys are taking him for face value. I think he operates on a more hidden agenda than most people care to think about. I believe his attempts up to this point are to make you think, get out of the rut your mind is in created by the media and step outside and scream WTF and actually contemplate what's going on rather than relying on the "news" or "rumour". He places himself in a role and generates these topics to hit people in the face. He's not lying, just twisting the truth. As you say he requested that gun be given to him in the bank. So as for what we saw in the film that was the truth.

ANYWAYS... if everone just took a step back and thought about it rather than condemning him as a liar or a great documentary film guy.... he's more of the guy you remember from college that always found a way to piss people off without actually saying or doing much...

Gun control is the ability to hit your target consistently.

Actually, that was the last thing in the film. He went to Kmart Corp office, and talked them into (should I say protested them into submission) discontinuing the sale of ammunition...he was quite proud of himself... :p

You haven't seen it yet you are are going to dispute his hollow allegations?
Thats a great strategy. Sort of like the one were we knew he had wmd because we knew.

I believe that beyond any politics of the movie that the actual allegations Moore makes about the Bush-Saudi relationship, etc need to be judged on whether they are true or not.
The one thing I have not heard is anyone who has seen the movie come back with any evidence that anything in the movie is untrue.
When you put yourself out their with a movie you better have your facts straight. Looks like he does.

And I seem to remember a tv movie that showed Bush on 9-11. Only it changed anything that might have made Bush look bad. In fact it held him out as some kind of hero. While that same week Republican pressure caused a Reagan film to be moved to cable.
