Opens this Friday. Anyone going to see it?
If you don't know, it's a spinoff based on Vin Diesel's character in Pitch Black. It's loosely a sequel, but it's more a dive into the psyche of the Riddick character, the anti-hero of the first.
I want to see it this week, but I know I can plan on going myself, or else I'll get dragged to see the Stepford Wives or Garfield instead. :rolleyes:
I'd love to see it to , liked PitchBlack , but it'll be a month or 2 before I get a
chance to watch it . :mad:

Should be interesting. Love a good sci-fi flick.
This will either be a fantastic movie or it is going to stink to high heaven!!! I really don't think there is much middle ground on this movie. I hope it is good !!
I really hope it is good and does well. If it is and does, then it is already schedualed to the the first in a triligoy of Riddick movies.

I don't understand. Vin Diesel doesn't do the sequels to The Fast and the Furious or XXX? Seems strange to pick Pitch Black.
Can't wait to see it. Thoroughly enjoyed Pitch Black so this movie should be good as well.

Yeah, I heard that. They got a game out now that's not based on the movie, but going by the Chronicles of Riddick billing. It's supposed to have a really great story, and has been getting positive reviews, so I gotta check that out.Quote:

But then King Kong vs Godzilla was so horribly bad that it is one of my favorite movies ever.
I think I will win either way, just by going to this one.

Just got back from seeing it. It's an awesome movie.
For those of you worried about Riddick being "superhuman" and taking on an entire army by himself, don't worry, it's nothing like that. The previews are misleading in that respect.
I don't want to say much more out of not wanting to spoil it, but I'll just say it's totally different from Pitch Black, Riddick's character is still well-written and great, and the ending wasn't what I was expecting, and I loved it.
Can't wait for a sequel.
I think he's bound to get a lot of mileage out of this franchise.
Plus, Cleetus doesn't like him, so he's already a superstar, right?

Saw it too. It's good. Very typical of action movies today with some interesting landscapes, scenes and effects, fairly brainless.
Didn't blow me away, but it was good enough to shell out the dough to see it.
Pitch Black reminded me of a cross between Alien and Lost in Space.
I love Pitch Black. I cant wait to see this movie. My friends went to see it today and said it was really good. I dunno when I'll have time to go see it though :( :p
Pitch Black - the book was most excellent too! :thumbs:
The book followed the exact same lines of the movie (Duh!), but it explored the characters more. All in all it's an excellent tie in to the movie.
Oh and the Chronicles of Riddick is on my Father's Day list for something to do! :thumbs2:
That was an awesome movie. I loved it, my friend loved it, and the GFs loved it. Problem is, the place was packed so we were like on the third row. Some of the fight/battle scenes just about gave me seizures from that close.
I guess that means I'll have to go again to catch it from farther back :D
Loved it. My wife and I love a good sci-fi flick and this fit the bill perfectly. Dark, edgy and they don't explain everything. I hate those films where they feel they have to explain everything so the people who can't connect the dots can get it too. Sci-fi is meant to be strange. I ought to "own" it!

I had to watch Shrek 2 with the kids last weekend, or they were going to make good on their threats to install Disney games and some of those lame "board-game-now-made-into-a-video-game" deals on my PC.
It was almost unbearable, knowing that this excellent flick was jsut a couple of feet away from where I was sitting...
Oh and BTW, I should probably post this in the gaming forum too, but if you've got an Xbox, definitely check out Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. It's a prequel to Pitch Black, and it explains how Riddick got his eyes tweaked.
Riddick related stuff aside, the game is one of the best I've ever played on Xbox or any system. Think 50% Halo, 50% Metal Gear Solid.

From the sound of it during the movie, I thought his eyes were due to him being a Furian... at least that's how they made it sound. Plus Jack (now that she's all grown up), tells him that he's a liar for saying that he paid some doctor 20 menthol Kools to shine his eyes.
Yeah...I don't want to spoil anything about the movie or the game...but the eyeshine didn't happen as exactly the way Riddick explained it in Pitch Black.
