Gave me a god damn speeding ticket this morning! Argh! I haven't had one in like 6 years and then some f*cker on a power trip decides to give me one this morning. It's not like it's going to slow me down at all. I was running late to work when he stopped me, so now I'm just going to need to drive even faster to get to work. And then he tells me "Have a nice day".... like I'm going to have a nice day after that...

I think they send these guys out to fill quotas. The train station I use to get to work has a 1/2 mile access road w/ a 15mph posted limit. 800 cars/day and nobody goes less than 30. Couple fridays ago they had a blitz and starting pulling everyone over. (I didn't get hit but I heard about it.) Last year I got a ticket for having an expired inspection sticker (by a week) while my car was parked in that parking lot. They're just sending 'em out to raise money.

In my experience, 20mph zones mean someone lives here. If you run over a kid because you were going too fast in a residential or school zone, a ticket will be the least of your worries.

I always drive over the speed limit. Even down residential streets, I'm doing at least 30 or more. I'm very aware of what's on the road, whether it be a dog, child, person, squirrel, parked cars (even though they are secretly cops), whatever.Quote:

Cops will look the other way on main surface streets and freeways, but speeding in a residential is going to get you nailed every time. Only 30 mph zones I've ever seen are residential with driveways, basically kid zones.
It's not about being perfect, it's about owning up when you make a mistake. I've gotten tickets before, and I've paid them every time. I've always treated the cop with respect and MOST of the time I've gotten away with a warning. I get pissed, but I'm pissed at myself, because in the long run you realize that it's not worth $180 to get to work 5 minutes earlier. Spork's pissed and he needs to rant in order to get it out of his system. I do the same thing. Just don't get pissed at the cop for doing his job.Quote:
