Got an order confirmation email from MS.
At the bottom it says:
"We highly recommend that you update your Microsoft software to better
protect against viruses and security vulnerabilities."
Hee hee.
I run 9x online because there's less vulnerabilities...
I think i posted the link here http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=62094, how quickly we forget. ;)
Nice to see u inferno_gn, been away?
Hi there,
I was in Toronto for two weeks. :D
Ju Leon...
It's hard to believe that they don't want their usual $9.99 for shipping, but I won't complain. Already have it from a friend, but another copy won't hurt a bit!
Great find Ju Leon https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
Hi there,
Wow, I got mine in today and it only took 6 days. :D
Ju Leon...
Got mine yesterday also.
I downloaded the full version from their website and ordered the CD just for kicks. I am glad that they give people with dial-up a free oportunity to get the same updates that broadband users can. I can't imagine trying to get a 280+ meg file down a 56k modem. MS has been good about sending out update and trial disks. I have recieved everything I ordered eventually.
Downloaded mine. Already had mine on and now off. I can't put my finger on it but it seems to slowed my system down. After reading this article http://www.theregister.com/2004/09/0...curity_review/ I don't know if I need to be in a hurry about it. Time will tell
I just downloaded it because i have access to dsl while on holiday! And ordered the CD too, but in my part of the world, it will take a few weeks!
i got mine as well, i ordered just for the sake of making microsoft pay for postage.
here's what i found:
1. you cannot use this cd to slipstream with. you need to download the sp2 online if you want to do that (the cd doesn't include update.exe)
2. it seems to work best if it is slipstreamed in and then do a fresh load of xp with sp2. when i just updated and existing installation the ms firewall wouldn't work and it seemed slow, as others have reported.
my xp pro sp2 slipstream seems to work well. it also seems they have already fixed some of the sharing issues that were in the cd sp2 in the downloadable version.
Thank's inferno_gn now I can give some CD to friends with Dial Up.Quote:

We got 2 CDs in fridays mail,, I figure I saved 1.00 not burning it myself LOL
And they even siad you can give the Cd to a friend so they can update their copy of Win XP
I tried SP 2 on a clean install before I installed any third party drivers and it broke my system, My DVD/cdrwo combo drive could not recognize cds
I have the Cd on the way
I Did a clean install of XP pro SP1, Then Ran The SP2 CD Before Installing ANY third party Apps or drivers.Quote:

Mine arrived today, Airmail from Hong Kong, with a Deutsche Post Customs Declaration sticker on it - they thought it was going to Austria ?
Wooohooo mine arrived this morning. Installed on the boss's PC  and so far no problems....
Hey I got mines today, 11 of them. I ordered 12 but I think the mail man took one, faget mailman. But I don't care, time to get them out for friends with dial up and to some that don't want to waste a CD-R.Quote:

If I had known there were no limits... :p
I thought it was one per person.
I asked for, and got 5 this morning.... Have deployed SP2 on several machines now(including my own) with no real issues to speak of.Quote:

Another bunny is bleating because some of his favourite games no longer run so will probably need to uninstall this one, at least until the patches / fixes become available.
Despite the scare stories I'm actually quite impressed with SP2 thus far, but must admit that the jury's still out so to speak - see how things go over the next month or two.

just got mine in the mail today
Well at least I backed all my important stuff up...now to install this beast when it comes in. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
Had mine for weeks and will not install it, All SP2 seems to be are more wizards for new computer users
Why should I have Windows monitoring my antivirus software and make sure it is monitoring my system, It also kills downloads and installs over the net
I don't need Microsoft holding my hand whenever I use my computer, I know how to use one, They should offer and advanced setup option for expereinced computer users
Maybe thats why I am playing with Linux
What would happen if a novice user "accidentally" start the advanced installation ? :)Quote:
