Just tried these drivers after installing my new GF6800 128MB card. Got a nasty surprise when, during the high particle test, the system completely rebooted! I've never had that kind of reaction in XP. Tried a couple of times to be sure it would reproduce. When I went back to the v61.77 drivers, Aquamark 3 ran fine.
I still have to dig out my CD with 3DMark2003 on it and install/run that benchmark.
I'm not so sure about game and general system stability with the v66.93's. Guess I'll stick with the last version and see what happens.
I havent run any benchmarks since upgrading the drivers, but new games like NFS Underground2 run fine, a demo of some other game, made xp reboot though.
Thanks, TechZ! It's nice to know I'm not alone with this kind of thing. :)
I'm planning on picking up Half Life 2 (collector's edition, if I can get it) soon and wanted to be able to run it without too much trouble (connecting to Steam over dial-up is going to suck).
I've heard about some v68.xx-70.xx drivers that are in the alpha/beta stages right now; might be worth waiting for those to make official release.
Is it just me, or do the non-WHQL drivers work better than the certified ones?
That seems to have been my experience lately.
I've never used the nonWHQL/leaked drivers, neither have I ever used the modded drivers. I stick with the "stable" WHQL drivers that nvidia release.
Have been using the ForceWare 70.41 beta for a while now , those have gotten highest score in Aqua3 (on FX-5700LE-256mg card) .Quote:

I've never used leaked drivers either. I have used beta drivers a few times with a Matrox G400 with mixed results (betas supplied by Matrox themselves).Quote:

I have used modded drivers only on 3dfx Voodoo cards, due to the lack of updated drivers from the now defunct 3dfx (again with mixed results).
What I was referring to with nVidia was the fact that the v61.77 drivers (which are not digitally signed) proved to be more stable in the Aquamark 3 benchmark program than the v66.93 drivers (which are digitally signed, ie WHQL certified). Similarly, the v61.76 drivers for Win9x/ME (WHQL) gave me stability problems, yet the v54.03 drivers (non-WHQL, unless I'm mistaken) worked fine.
It has been my experience since switching over to nVidia cards almost exclusively that the drivers that nVidia releases without WHQL certification give me little or no trouble as opposed to drivers released with certification.
This may be something I actually am alone in.
GrandDad- I have read about "leaked" drivers a few times. Where might one find such drivers and are there legal issues in downloading/installing them?
Also, are the stability problems as horrible as rumor has them to be?
www.guru3d.com I dont think theyre illegal.
Also the latest/leaked/betas are all at www.ggmania.com or gameguru.box.sk
I'm having massive problems with this driver version.
I just bought a new 5200 fx a few days ago (highest power card my non-AGP motherboard can take...) and the installation has been a mess. The stock drivers led to massive random restarts and these updated ones are just odd.
Whenever I right click on a vid file or open the Nvida Settings in my taskbar the screen goes black for about a second and then (usually) comes right back on.
I had one instance this morning where it went off and stayed off. Am I the only one having this issue? Should I try to find an older version of the driver?
i am having problems as well with these drivers
the nvidia helper service keeps timing out and stalling my system
i disabled the service but i haven't tried any games since
the service only controls the refresh rate in open gl game if you have it set differently, so i dont think it should be a problem
This is were I've been going for different Video drivers , They also have for ATI's .Quote:

not sure about the mobo but the comp is an HP Pavillion a347x running Win XP home. I'm going to try switching it to a different PCI slot since right now I have it in one that used to hold a modem. Maybe the bios is still looking for that. I don't know.Quote:

Make sure you Uninstall thru Windows anything before you take it out or move it ,Quote:

Thanks to TechZ & GrandDad for posting the links.
I finally downloaded and installed v70.41 betas; yikes!! :eek2: both 3DMark03 and Aquamark 3 caused reboots at the second test in their respective series.
I tried v66.93 again with the same result.
Reinstalling the v61.77 drivers brought everything back to normalcy. Apparently I can only run the 61.77's on my system at present.
My system at work uses the same motherboard and the GF4MX card is running just fine on the 66.93's (with an odd glitch during the DaVinci screensaver....the body of the crank-powered wagon is missing!).
Guess I'll just have to wait until the next official release and try again.
Hopefully I won't be stuck at one driver version for this card (I've had that with a couple of other cards, it sucked!)
ForceWare 67.03 Win2K/XP Official -
Although labeled beta, NVIDIA has released a new official driver, this is ForceWare 65 with build 67.03 for Windows 2000/XP
From what I've read , alot of the 6*.** series may not (or make worse) work well with FX and lower cards , its try this , try that sometimes to find one that improves things .Quote:

I'm downloading the v67.03 drivers from the link Radical Dreamer posted.
The remark on that site about a fix for motherboard compatibility, "most notably SiS motherboards" caught my eye since I'm using ECS K7S5A's both at home and at work.
Hopefully these do the trick.
AARRRRGGHH!!!
Exactly the same problem as before!
I don't know what changed between v61.77 and v66.93 (and beyond), but both Aquamark 3 and 3DMark2003 cause reboots during benchmarking. I'll be sticking with the v61.77's and sending off e-mail(s) to nVidia and/or Gigabyte to see if there's a solution to this problem.
Thanks again for the helpful links and tips.
ZT
Finally solved the problem.
Updated the videocard BIOS to the latest available from Gigabyte.
Updated the motherboard with a BIOS released this year (on the Taiwan site, not the US site). Set the RAM timing to 'SPD' instead of forcing CL2.5.
This gave me successful runs of both 3DMark2003 and Aquamark 3 (YAY! :D ).
I then took a chance on a modded BIOS I found in the OCWorkbench forums and got a slight performance boost from that. The system now runs quite nicely with the v67.03 nVidia drivers.
Ready for Half Life 2!
Excerpt:
You wanted them and we have them for you. After the disappointment that was 71.21 hopefully you will find these much better. I don't know though, but I should have these drivers myself before midnight. So let me know how these drivers go! The 71.22 had all kinds of problems with Counter-strike: Source (as well as other applications) so I didn't even bother to post them - lets hope these will do the trick as I am pretty sure that they will be the last release of the year.
The drivers are obviously beta, so use them at your own risk - not to scare you off or anything like that, as these should be a nice release really.
I'll add more information as I discover it! I really wanted to get these drivers out to you as soon as I could!! What I have determined is that the files were WHQL on the 22nd of December and the other files have a timestamp of 15th so at least they weren't the drivers that were being worked on just before and during the Christmas part because you know that could just mean problems. Without a modified .INF these drivers only support the Geforce6 series, but if you are using older cards you should have fast and stable drivers anyway to be honest.
