However, I have seen some remarkably insightful and well thought out posts from him on occasion, leading me to believe that my first impression is entirely wrong.
When I lived in the mountains of NC, I met lots of people who WANTED you to think that they were dumb hillbillies, so as to take advantage of one's complacency, and they could "get over" on you. While I have no idea why Cleetus wants people to think he is "slow", it is obvious that this *is* what he wants one to think.
Cleetus is ok. I think he just does all this to make his day more interesting.

but i do agree that you use the "think i'm stupid and ignorant so that it's easier for me to manipulate you" strategy. ONe i am quite fond of myself at times, althought i prefer to let people think that i'm crazy so that i can manipulate them when need be.
Life is just easier when you play stupid, most people think that the majority of people are beneath them and make up their minds well before they really know the person. Let them do that and you can get away with so much more.Quote:
