Arrived back to snow and a dead furnance. Spent the morning pulling the guts out of the furnace and carting them off to a repair shop. If I don't wear gloves my fingers will stick to the keyboard.

Shame about the furnace...especially after the lovely weather you must have encountered. My sister wants to go there and has booked tickets for April 08, it all seems very reasonable :).
Well for a Canadian the weather was like mid to late spring. T-Shirts, shorts and sandals for me. But some of the locals were wearing ski jackets. T'was unseasonably cold.Quote:

Curious what parts did you rebuild, Blower assembly? Ignition system?etc.
You forgot to mention Pellet stove,forced air furnace, convection furnace,
Electric furnace, oil furnace. the list goes on and on:wave:
Yes, but not rebuild, rather have rebuilt -- I lost my gear puller some time ago so I wouldn't have been able to get the pulley off. Bushing on the pulley side was completely gone. Disintegrated on the evening of my departure, so I was able to turn the furnace off. It was not a surprise. Shut the water off to the house so that there would be no surprises.Quote:

just a 2 cent tip, Do not tighten belt till you have a tight string for a tune:)
like a guitar. You should be able to push on center of belt and move it about 1/2 an inch. Belt too tight will erode bearings, sounds like you got lucky enough to catch it before it tore up your shaft.

Cool, House! Outside of a single visit to Acapulco about 50 years ago, I've never been to the Pacific side of Mexico. Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, Taxco, Monterrey, Saltillo, Cozumel, and others, but never PV. In fact, it strikes me that most Texans visit the interior and Eastern seaboard of Mexico, while Puerto Vallarta is a big draw for Canadians and Northerners. Why is that do you suppose?
