There are faster laptop drives from Hitachi, but very pricey.
dont knock ATI either WH.
Intel, AMD, ATi, nVidia. its all good. Lets have peace.
I think its 4200rpm. And they work pretty darn fast, simple because the internal connections are fast. Unless you realllllly need it 7200rpm for a notebook is overkill. Toshiba make notebook harddrive too, and Western Digital are getting into it.Quote:

My laptop(4200rpm) vs Desktop(7200rpm), big differnce yes, but with a 5400rpm model I'm sure the gap would be much less. Also faster drives, more heat, need more cooling.

Oops, typo on my part. Yes, it is 4200 or 5400 rpm.
The link you provided is not working.
However, the faster 7200 rpm creating more heat is almost a non issue and and same goes for power consumption.
I checked it out here.

Honestly, unless you let us know what the majority of the use of the computer is, it is rather difficult to make suggestions either way.
As for me, I see no reason at all to ever get a laptop. They are too expensive, you can't make as many changes on them to keep them lasting longer, the keyboard is too small, the monitor is too small, you have to use their mouse or attach one, they get hot on your lap, battery has too be watched, yada, yada, yada....
Now don't get me wrong, there are also times and needs that make a laptop invaluable compared to a desktop. Traveling, showing presentations, multiple sites where it is needed and so forth.
So like I said, what is it exactly that you need it for and to do?

Then the cleetus would vote for desktop. More bang for your buck that wayQuote:

Agreed that its better to get a desktop if you dont need a laptop.
even with a port replicator/docking station? My heart is really set on a laptop.
amyb you can't beat a Sager notebook. They are bar none the best. They actually make the Alienware notebooks but for 33% less the price. Check www.sagernotebook.com.
