Re-activation of xp issue
Gigabyte 7VT600-RZ MB
AMD Athlon 2600+
WIndows XP SP3
80 Gb HD
1.75Gb RAM
Radeon 256MB AGP Graphics
I have recently changed MB on my daughter's PC, due to failure of her old MB.
I reconnected all wiring etc, configured BIOS & booted PC into XP SP3. Carried out a repaire install, as XP would not load. Carried out repair install (several times) & rebooted (several times).
XP is asking to activate XP, everytime I boot up. However, the network drivers appear not to be loaded properly, and I am unable to connect to the internet. I am not presented with any re-activation wizard, nor know how to do it. Tried from command prompt, but message returned adv I must activate windows first.
Any idea's please on a workaround, perhaps by re-extending the activation period, so I can get the network drivers sorted.
Re-activation of xp issue
Thanks for the info. However, I have a further issue to this, is the fact that I cannot get to the point of entering the activation code, due to some other unknown reason.
XP will boot upto the user identifier logon screen. I can click on a defined user button. A message appears stating I have to activate windows first or log-off. I cannot get any further, be it in live or in safe mode. I am not offered the appropriate wizard to enter the revised code.
