It's not a MasterCard problem, the credit card processing company is to blame. But MasterCard discovered a pattern of abuse and decided to make it public after proper consultation with law enforcement officers to help protect MasterCard customers.
The company didn't make it public or warn customers because they say the FBI said not to, but the FBI denies this.

Another great example of why I don't do plastic, or online business. When I found out transactions less than $20 do not require authorization of any kind, I cut up my Visa for good. It also explained why everything for sale on TV breaks down into easy payments of $19.99. :rolleyes:
