r/w not formating discs

Hi guys can any one help? my R/W drive wont let me format r/w discs any ideas will be appreciated.

Hello acehigh: What OS and what burning software are involved here?

hello cct thanks for responding......my os is xp home edition i can normally format my dvd rw at the main d: drive....sorry im a bit of a novice.
