Having problems with Outlook and the pst file, it wont let me copy or back it up. The hard disk seems to just go in a rhythmic cycle of reading and nothing happens - often resulting in a 'cannot read...

Thanks for the replies. I think it is a DVI-I and the adaptor is DVI-D, either way I've told the shop to take it back and give me a screen with a DVI port - can't believe that a brand new 23" LG LED...

I have recently upsized by LED screen to an LG E2360 model however it only has a VGA socket on the back.
Graphics card is a GF 9800 GT with only two DVI slots on it. I bought a small adapter but...

Thanks for the suggestions, it was the UVNC service trying to run as system rather than admin. Switched to Teamviewer for remote access now.

Its not malware, guest account is off.
Problem is with the VNC service so will look into using Windows Remote Desktop instead.

I'm trying to setup UVNC (remote access) software on a computer, everything installs fine until I try to edit any of the admin properties. As soon as I click ok the Windows XP "run as" box appears...

Ok, I presume it's that then, will try the iso with a different emulator - if it fails again it is a bad download.
Yes, the game was downloaded, it is very difficult to get originals where I live...

Its a game, published this year so very much doubt it is a 16 bit installer - others have it working so it can't be the iso either.
Could be a problem with 7 or Daemon tools?

Trying to install a program from a DVD iso image mounted on Daemon tools but keep getting this error:
I have Windows 7 x64 and I know for a fact the software runs on it (others are using it)....

I tried that with the Windows 7 disk image utility and it failed ... hence the need for the clone!

Thanks for the suggestions, gave Acronis TI a go. It wouldn't clone to a specific partition and wanted the whole disk so had to juggle some data about but got there in the end!

Yeah power supply and internet connectivity is somewhat archaic where I live!
Will follow the advice given and look into getting a decent UPS.
Cheers.

Thanks for the replies, I've tested the hard disks with Seatools and they come up clean. The Event Viewer shows this around the time of the shutdowns:
\SystemRoot\SysWow64\drivers\pfc.sys has...

Well, this is embarrassing, had a bit of a fiddle - the good news is that the PSU is ok - it works in another machine. This means that the the electrical burning smell can only be from the UPS which...

Thanks for the reply, the previous PSU wasn't any brand I'd ever heard of so I'll invest in an Enermax this time, at least it'll come with a warranty if it does cook again! I'll also beef up the CPU...

Just a quick revival to this thread to state that the 680w PSU just died, managed 6 months out of it though! Looks like I'll need an 800w unit that weighs half a ton and puts out 50 amps on the 12v...

Thanks for the replies, yes I copied the data over to another disk using Ubuntu. It was a data disk, no operating system on it, was just curious as to how this happened and if anyone else had seen...

Ok, answering myself again on here :)
Found them, not viral they're IIS log files in the system32/w3svc1/ folder. Killed them all and have my hard disk back again!

I've recently had a virus/malware infestation on an old Windows 2000 Server that I've now managed to clean. Unfortunately there was about a week where the trojans had a free reign on the box and...

Quick update on this as it managed to infect our entire network of XP machines (barring a couple). Symantec AV is a waste of space as it failed to prevent or clean this infection however malwarebytes...
