When I went up to dual boot, I just fitted a second hard drive, then installed Vista on that leaving my original XP Pro untouched.
I think you need to install XP first though followed by Vista and...

This won't be much help to you I'm afraid...
We have 2 x networked Magicolors here, a 3100 duplex and an oldish Magicolor2 that we use as our general printer.
I had no problems with the Vista...

Vista so far appears to be much more tolerant of hardware changes than XP so you should have no problems there... Either or both might need to be reactivated though.
Just fitted a replacement...

There are two alternative sound/audio drivers listed on the site and of the two I reckon the soundmax one is more likely. I've only one emachine in at the moment and it's a little newer than yours...

Certainly my local branch of Staples here does not sell OEM copies of XP but it does sell boxed retail and upgrades of both XP and Vista.
Any OEM XP Home CD should work fine with the HP product...
