Right-clicking my c:/ drive shows 83 % is being used. But I only have 150mb of programs!?
This is confirmed inspecting ADD/REMOVE software in CTRL PANEL. And chkdsk says the same.
It's a 20gb...

More scanning with the 2 HD's revealed additional trojan horses and an exploit virus. I'll scan some more before replacing the HD.

Like DDS, apparently.
It is hard to be sure everything's been removed. I'll take it one step at a time. NOD32 certainly was impressive.
By the way, both HD's are in a PC that was NOT infected....

I did the only deep scan I know of. 6 hrs.
The HD was initially diag with the XP Virus. I believe I got rid of that, but another virus - the name escapes me now - remained.

I can not see a way that guarantees a recovery instal and not the clean instal - a big difference as I've read.

I'm a mid-level, non-programmer wanting to rid my HD of a virus. As the virus disallows opening files, I'm trying recovery - not the fresh install - to get the HD back to reasonable working...
