To prove something, one must first try to disprove it.

Hmmm... Really looks like M726 board...: But M726 has BXCel chipset
Here is link to motherboard specification and picture: http://www.pcwave.com/prod729.html
    Compare with Yours.
Here You can find BIOS and drivers for that board: http://www.pcwave.com/bios.html#M726

I have repaired quite a few those motherboards (both M725 and M726), but it's still unclear for me, what exactly Your board is.
Check it all again to be sure...

You should update BIOS to latest one.
That motherboard has multiplier x8 and 100Mhz bus,so,I'd assume what that MoBo can work with faster CPU.I've seen P3-550 Slot1 running on M726MRT board (I have right now M726MRT with P3-450 running). But I've never tried it for M726 personally, fastest CPU I used for these boards was Celeron 433 (shown by BIOS as 450,though ) These boards have weak enough state step-down converter - at least 8 out of 10 boards what I repaired (including my - but got it for free ) had that problem. So, using latest CPUs (600+)on that board may be bit risky. Isn't very good motherboard...

This would have been probably better posted in the Intel forum.
