Post Internet Explorer Problem

Can anyone help?

I have recently tried a few web sited to order goods over the net.

I have no trouble putting items into the 'basket' but when it comes to paying I cannot access the pages where I put credit card details etc in.

All I get is the usual message about not being able to display the page etc.

This has happened with amazon amongst others.

I have Internet Explorer 5.5 and all updates are in place using 'Windows Update'.

I have no problems when just browsing the web.

Is there a setting that has changed?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I suspect security problem. Go to Tools-Options-Security tab and go down the list and check all PCT, SSL and TLS.

This is very basic but have u installed the 128bits encryp?
Most sites with direct payment will force the high encryption for that page.

Start Internet Explorer, and go to the Help menu, then select About. It should say "cipher strength: 128-bit" If not, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/128bit/default.asp and get the update for your browser.

Are you browsing from home or work? What kind of connection do you have? There may be something up with your ISP that is preventing you from accessing secure sites.
