Can anyone tell me how to build a cable that will work with the Interlnk program in DOS?

You will need a male to male parallel cable, i don't know how to build one, but most computer shops will stock them.

Great! Now like I asked, does anyone know how to build the cable since I already know that just a regular parallel to parallel cable wont work?

Why do you need to build one? Are the PC's are certain distance away and cannot be moved?

I've gone to computer stores around here, when I ask about a null modem cable they look at me like I am from Mars! I need to be able to move some programs from my PC to my laptop. They are too big to fit on a floppy disk. I have already tried a parallel to parallel cable with no success. With my knoweledge of electronics I can assume that A special cable must be built.

Typical of computer stores and cabling. Not there fault they are salesmen not techs.

Are there any local electronic stores where you live. They should stock either a Null Modem or Male-to-Male parallel cables.

There's quite a few wires crossed over in a null modem cable.

Try asking for a laplink cable.

If I get chance, I'll take the pinouts from one of mine (no promises though, I'm up to my eyes in it ATM).

Because your question was Poorly Phrased and did not give enough information to solve the problem.

What you really should do is plug a couple of Network Cards in and Copy what you need at 100Mbits. It gets done faster than a trip to the store, and is not (practically) limited to a short distance.

You could also just pull the drive from the old machine, install it in the new one and copy the data locally (Which is the fastest method).

Either way, rudeness is NOT WELCOME here on these forums, and if you wish to participate in this community, you need to be a little more mature...

First Twisted Mister calls me an a$$, now your telling me that my question was poorly written. I ASKED A VERY SIMPLE QUESTION,"CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO BUILD A CABLE THAT WILL WORK WITH INTERLNK IN DOS". That is a fairly simple question, and goes straight to the point I WANT TO FIND OUT HOW TO BUILD THE CABLE! Shouldn't be too tough for you folk either you know the answer or you don't. If you know the answer then send it, if you don't know the answer keep quite. The reason why I want to build the cable is of no importance as it does not matter why I want to know. Then to have someone call me an A$$ then at the same time call me rude? Get a grip. Whos being rude here? Wasn't me, I simply asked why he didn't just answer the question instead of beating around the bush playing games. ANOTHER simple question that apparently 3 of you can't answer. So I guess you should have stayed quite too.

I use a standard straight through parallel cable and it works great. Also, the transfer speed will be faster than with a serial null modem cable. You only need a null modem cable if you want to use the remote copy procedure (this is a way of copying the interlnk files to the client machine so you don't have to copy them onto a disk first).

I understand that this person was rude, but there is no need for name calling in this case. If a member does this, contact a moderator.

As for this reply, I'm not even going to go in on how this should have been phrased to make it not flaming. This response should have been reread before posting.
