Upgrading to Multiprocessors
This is a continuation of a post in the intel forum so here goes... I have a server with 1 500MHz installed and I want to install another (Yes, it can take two processors). Do you install the processor, boot, and then run uptomp.exe + the win32k.sys fix as documented in the KB or is there a better way that anyone has discovered? (this is my first upgrade to dual processor and it's on a production server so I need to get it right.... the other servers have come preinstalled with 2 processors)
Thanks...
J.

Thanks for the KB article Papa Smurf. I don't know how I missed this one. I spent a good hour searching the MS KB and read many articles but I seemed to miss this one. Thanks.

also remember to make sure your two processors are from the same batch/S-Spec number....
or in other words, you can't use processors where one is like a year older than the other even though they are the same model and speed.
I'd rather be fly-fishing.....

Also be sure to reapply your current service pack, as some of the file that get upgraded may be early versions...
