Ive read somewhere that you can delete the swapfile, but not while running nt. You can resize it and move it by the system icon in control panel. GO to performance and virtual memory. I wouldnt recommend making it smaller (performancewise), but see how small you can make it (be sure to back up your files first)....hope this helps.

Okay, sorry. Evidence Eliminator claims to clean whats in the swap file (i think). Swap file is protected by the same mode as protected memory? If so, then how would EE clean it? Oh well, sorry i couldnt help more

Have you done a search for a freeware/shareware memory clearer on zdnet.com or some other site like that. I know there are a TON of them that clear RAM. Surely one of them have to clear swap files. Though I'm not sure. I may just be *spitting* in the wind here.

Swap file is like simulated ram. Ram is the memory you use while you are working on the PC. If you are working on a file that is large enough parts or it get stored tempararaly in the swap file. So if you clear the swap file (not sure if it's actuly possible) then you lose what your working on. You may want to look at asking about memory leak. Thats when you load then unload a program such as outlook, but it keeps some of the memory.

    Thumbs up

To putz around with the swap file settings, right-click on My Computer, select Properties, click on the Advanced tab, then click on the Performance Options button. You can view or change page file settings from the Change button...

    Nonserious answer
Dood, just use a hex editor on your swap file!

    Serious answer
I haven't the foggiest idea, but the others are probably right in that your best bet's likely to be digging around for some shareware utility.

    Cool

Don't know how to open it, but a workaround to "flush" the swapfile is to find a .tif image that is HUGE and open it (make sure it is larger than your ram + swapfile size). Once it exceeds ram of course it goes to swap and ovewrites all the porn (or whatever is in there)!!!

Just an example, could open up any large file for same effect. That way you could flush it when you are done using the system and no one is the wiser.
