Multiple vga output
Hello
A client of mine want to replace 4 computers he has for presentations use in his front window to 1 computer with 3 or 4 outputs that will run some powerpoint and movies files.
I wonder if a computer with 2 PCI-X in sli mode, or some other cheap solution (not matrox card that costs here 550$) will do the trick ?
Thank you

PCI dual head. If you have the slots available, use two.

Thank you MPP.
Is the chipset important (Nvidia/Ati) ? Will it work with some integrated chipsets ? (Like Intel 865G) ?
I saw some of these PCI cards in israel which is a good news...

The software is the most important part of what you are trying to do. Buy two of them, (4 monitors) the software that comes with either ATI, or NVidia, will split up the video. So, pick either you are more comfortable with, but buy two of the same.

Thank you for being so helpful MPP
The client just decided that he want to see if he can get along with just 2 output, So i'll install him an AGP or PCI-X card on one of his old computers, And if he'll want more output i'll buy same company chipsets pci cards (Will start with one PCI card and will add another if needed).

If he doesn't mind the same picture on all 4 outputs, a VGA splitter is a cheap way to go.

Hey Guts and thanks
well....in this specific case he needs to display different powerpoint in each LCD....
Originally he had 4 computers and 4 lcds, But he said that he will try to get along with 2 screens and one computer, So we'll see how it goes.

Have a look at the ATI FireMV 2400 or Nvidia Quadro NVS 420. Those PCI-Express cards can drive 4 monitors each.

Motor - thank you so much for your input.
these are quite expensive cards (More than 500$ for the NVS420, the ati was unavailable here).
I prefer the PCI solution suggested by MPC which costs like 120$ and is suitable for this client specific needs.
