Nec cdrw software.
We have an Nec NR7500 cd-rw that we are trying to put in a system that we are putting together for a customer. The cd works but the Adaptec easy cd software refuses to work with it. Any ideas what we could use instead and where to get it quickly? We've had good luck in the past with the Adaptec software but not this time... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hey man, what do you mean that the SW refuses to work with it ? Do you mean it doesn't recognize it as a writer or buffer underruns? What os? What firmware revision. What version of Adaptec ? Copying from cdtocd or from hdd or what ?
please be a little more specific.

Sorry I was in such a hurry.... Running win98 and the software is adaptec cd copier deluxe ( 4.0? ) and it doesn't recognize any cd recorder and refuses to start.

Make sure you download and install Adaptec's patches which add support for many drives not supported by the original release. The patches will update your software to version 4.02d

it doesn't recognize any re-writer/recorders?
Sounds like you may have a problem with either your controller drivers or your CDR/w drivers. can you install anything from the cdr/w? Is this a fresh install of win98 ?

yes it reads cd's just fine but the cdrw software doesn't recognize the cdrw. I'm currently trying to update the software we have ( our Vendor has finally replied and told us to upgrade to 4.02c ) hopefully that will take care of everything. Unfortunately I first have to upgrade to 4.02 then I can upgrade to 4.02c, I love software!

I just had this problem over the weekend. It ended up that when i replaced my SCSI card the problem was resolved. My Adaptec 2940 was bad :-(
Also try a firmware upgrade from your vendor.

never had a problem in this area. ive owned 2 cdrw's and both have run perfectly on the adaptec software.
1. iomega zipcd external USB
2. HP 8250i internal
buy good drives = software works
buy bad drives = patch software

Yeah I know we never had a problem with the Teac and HP ( except of course the update to make the software compatible with win98se. ) I'm not sure why our distributor decided to switch to nec drives. And NEC is a big name we figured that they would be common enough to be recognized. Oh well, in todays world it seems like we are always having to download a patch for this or an update to that, it's the nature of the business these days!

Hey.. Adaptec software is usually good but with OEM NEC's and OEM Matsu****a Burners it doesnt like either one a bit...
Goto www.nero.com
and get NERO... best burner out there.
And if you need it in a hurry there is a crack out there somewheres too i beleive.
I installed NERO and am having no troubles at all with the NEC.

Got to disagree with Machine. I'm running a Matsu****a CW-7503 CD-R with both Nero and EZCD. Both work perfectly with the drive.
BTW, it's an OEM SCSI drive.
