    Post "Msgsrv32"

    Help! I don't know if this is right place to post this.
    But all help is apppreciated.
    When computer start message box appears
    "Msgsrv32" "....Illegal fucntion...will shut down..."
    After shut down, the only thing that appear on monitor is the desk top N0 ICON OR FOLDERS AT ALL.
    I try to start in safE mode, same thing happens. I CAN NOT ACCESS ANY PROGRAMS OR FILES. ONLY THE DESKTOP SCREEN APPEAR.
    Please help. Thank you.

    One of my favorite messages that. I had a customer with a particular machine that would do that when installing ANY software that required a reboot. Then no matter how many times it rebooted it would do the same. It was something about the motherboard but never figured out just what.I just worked around it this way:
    ctrl-alt-del once.
    ctrl-esc.
    old task manager comes up.
    run c:\windows\system\msgsvr32.exe
    the install cleanup finishes.
    no more problem untill next time someone installs software.
    Never found a fix for that particular mobo and I tried everything I could find including clean install with no advanced drivers.
    I know so much less than I did when I was 4!
