Post Yahoo to charge for searches

It's funny and absolutely coincidental that I posted an opinion on search engine when lookey here I find that Yahoo is offering a premium search which will charge between $1 and $4 per document with quantity rates as well.

    <a href="http://premium.search.yahoo.com/search/premium/splash" target="_blank">http://premium.search.yahoo.com/search/premium/splash</a>

The technology provider is Northern Light Technology.

    Here is the article:

    <a href="http://news.com.com/2100-1023-820360.html" target="_blank">http://news.com.com/2100-1023-820360.html</a>

So fellas what'd ya think? I know in a previous post regarding search engines an individual did mention using Northern Light. WEre they referring to Northern Light's premium service? If not has anyone tried the premium paid search? Is it that much better than the google we discussed? Will this "fly" (i.e. Will Yahoo make money?)? If so, could this be the beginning of the end for quality free searches? If it makes Yahoo money wouldn't be just a matter of time before Google does the same?

Wasn't Windrivers search free before forcing me to go elsewhere to find drivers ? Are the days of free searches coming to an end (Yes I realize there will be searches that provide results of commercial companies selling stuff but I mean relevant free info)????????

I think what Yahoo is offering is more than a search engine, they say they have special documents available, whatever that means. Yahoo makes money with it's other ventures like travel and auctions, the search engine is just a gateway to those things.

Money is motivation for 99.9999% of the world and I am surprised this didn't happen sooner, but I am bummed to see soo many companies resorting to charging patrons. I still don't like paying to get 'on to' the internet(Yes I know there are free ones). Times are tuff for big corporations and they will sqeeze every last dollar out of us.

Maybe this is wishful thinking but I am sort of taking the There will always be free quality information exchange available on the net ("Where there is a will there is a way").
And I will go a step further and say the free info. searches that will always be available will always have a decent quality.
I take this model because so far they are having a heck of a time preventing people from sharing music. Once one gets shut down 10 more pop up.

Annnd Why by the cow when you can get the milk for free? Maybe the industries that want to make money on all such as search engines should have a talk with cable companies. I know, I know an entirely different animal but just a thought.
