Toshiba Tecra 530CDT won't boot
I have a Toshiba Tecra 530CDT that won't boot at all - not from the hard disk or from a floppy. Apparently, one of the other techs had used this machine to swap a customers hard drive into for testing or something. Now that we've put the original hard drive back in, the machine won't boot.
When you press the power button the screen lights up and shows the memory test. After the memory test it just freezes - doesn't try to access the hard drive or floppy drive. Also, I can't get into the BIOS setup by holding down ESC. It just freezes at the same point.
Does anyone know if there's a key combination or other method of clearing the BIOS? I think maybe it's still looking for the other hard drive or something.

there should be a jumper on the mother board but you'll need the manual for that probbly.
Obviously thats a Notebook right?
Good luck.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

This has happened to me a couple of times under much the same situation. what I found in both cases was bad connections. After i removed everything and very carefully reinstalled they booted up. Dont know if you have rechecked all the connections but it might be worth a try. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Agreed the connections in the Tecra and Satellite seem more sensitive than other brands, check them and triple check them... also try removing the main battery, CMOS battery, and any other battery (like some Thinkpads actually had a third battery inside) and let it sit for a while. If that doesn't work, you'll have to open it up and use the jumper.

Back with a vengeance.

Try Windows Vista, the CE.ME.NT eXPerience...
