    Post Win2000 locksup without CD in Drive, BUT

    My Windows2000 professional computer locksup when I go into My Computer and I dont have a cd in the drive, But when I put a any cd into the drive I can go into my computer.
    I updated my drivers and still no go. I have also installed SR1 for W2K.
    any help would be appreciated..

    Will it boot if the tray is open?
    I don't know what drive you have, but at Dell we found this to be an issue.
    Try and boot the system with the tray out, if it go into the O/S normally, then the drive has an internal short and must be replaced.
