    Resolved [RESOLVED] K6 2+ and K6-3+

Can any of you brilliant folk tell me where I can get a K6-2+ or better still, a K6-3+ chip in the UK to upgrade my laptop. I know that it can be done, just need the chip!

    Thumbs up

Hey Mike, Whats up. Try WWW.TIGERDIRECT.COM, have it shipped over seas! I run K6-3 Chips in my desktops, but are those chips the same as Notebook chips?

yes, the k6-3 and k6-2 chips for desktops are the same as the laptop models. I have personally changed out a presario 266 mhz chip for a 350 chip. Even though the bus remained at 66, I was still able to clock it to 333.

Of course compare all voltage and multiplier settings before changing any chips. Also make sure the thing doesn't get too hot.

They are not the same chip, the "+" versions have additional 3DNOW instructions, run on a lower voltage, are built on a smaller die, and have a clock-stepping feature (you can actually download a utility which lets you increase/decrease the cpu multiplier from within windows)

first to reach tiger you should go here http://www.tigerdirect.com/ (the other link had an extra comma in it). Second, i thought the k62+ k63+ had additional, or faster on board cache also.
